A Mechanical Engineer is needed for a manufacturing company considered one of the world's leading innovators in materials science in the Hickory, NC area. The role involves providing hands-on mechanical support for the installation, start-up, and debugging of high-speed cable manufacturing equipment while collaborating with a multi-functional team and ing mechanical engineering principles.

location: Hickory, North Carolina

salary: $36.22 - 50.71 per hour

work hours: 8am to 4pm

responsibilities:

  • Provide hands-on mechanical support for the installation, start-up, and debugging of high-speed cable manufacturing process equipment.

  • Work with a multi-functional team, including mechanical, electrical, controls, facilities, IT, and operations.

  • Apply principles of mechanics, hydraulics, thermodynamics, metallurgy, and machine design in equipment design and operation.

  • Experience with high-speed cable manufacturing equipment (jacketing, ribbon stranding, buffering) preferred but not required.

  • Mechanical equipment design, installation, start-up, and debugging experience in high-volume manufacturing environments.

  • Manage mechanical and electrical trades during equipment installation and debugging.

Skills:

  • Proficient in design software such as AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or Inventor.

  • Knowledge of machine guarding and safety practices (e.g., OSHA standards).

  • strong written and oral communication skills.

  • Ability to collaborate with diverse teams.

  • Capable of multitasking and working with minimal direction.

  • Independently determine and develop approaches to solutions.

  • Familiarity with other engineering disciplines (electrical, civil, process, etc.).

  • Coordinate tasks and work plans for team members to meet customer schedules.

  • Provide hands-on input and insight into equipment installation and troubleshooting.
