Description

Data Center Engineering (DCE)- Security Solutions Engineering team is looking for a highly talented and motivated Sr. Security Systems Engineer. In this role, you are responsible for designing, configuring, and troubleshooting networked security systems, including IP surveillance cameras, access control systems, intrusion detection systems, and all other security facing systems as needed. This role requires a blend of technical network expertise with a deep understanding of physical security technology and industry standards. Scope of work includes complex integrations of security systems involving multiple teams inside and outside the organization. Security Systems engineer will lead the security video monitoring technology in our data centers and will manage the effort to convert the business requirements document to a systems specification for the cameras and video monitoring solutions we deploy in our data centers.

Key job responsibilities

  • Lead the design and implementation of network layouts, specifically for physical security systems, ensuring optimal performance and reliability.

  • Demonstrate the technical leadership and work closely with electrical engineers, network engineers and physical security engineers to configure and maintain network devices and software related to security systems, including IP cameras, NVRs, access control systems, and peripheral security devices and services.

  • Lead integration of security devices into existing networks while maintaining network security protocols.

  • Support ingestion of new Security IoT devices into the AWS DCE Security Solutions lab for evaluation, testing, and deployment by collaborating with other internal teams such as but not limited to DC Security, Amazon Optics, and AWS SOC.

  • Conduct regular system audits to ensure functionality and update system documentation as necessary.

  • Provide technical support and troubleshooting assistance for network-related issues in security setups.

  • Stay updated with the latest industry trends and technologies in both networking and physical security systems.

  • Lead the effort to develop standard operating procedures and as well lead the training effort for the data center technicians on new hardware or software integration related to cameras and video monitoring systems.

  • Participate in the system engineering and design reviews in other security solutions and guide the electrical and mechanical engineers during supplier collaboration and concept engineering.

  • Manage projects from concept through deployment, including working with vendors and contractors.

You seek to learn the business context and the technologies that make up our global infrastructure architecture. You work effectively with peer engineers and internal partners to understand their needs and identify any opportunities/problems arising from technical decisions. You invent, refine, and develop solutions to ensure they are meeting business needs and team goals. You are a passionate advocate for your customer.

About the team

The Security Solutions team provides engineering expertise and design support for security devices and solutions in data centers globally. We own and support security products throughout their lifecycle. Our scope also includes emergent global scale remediation strategic efforts that impact Data Center Security and introducing and driving business improvement initiatives increasing visibility and enabling data driven decision making.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering, Engineering Technology, or other related engineering degree.

  • 5-10 years of experience in Electrical/mechanical systems, security systems design, development, implementation in an industrial, logistics, production, or manufacturing environment.

  • 5-10 years of experience directly managing and responsible for multiple large projects.

  • 3-5 years of experience directly related to data center or critical equipment design.

  • 3-5 years of demonstrated experience on technical documentation development (Product Design Requirements and Specifications, Electrical Schematics and SW/FW Diagrams).

  • 3-5 years of experience with network devices, cameras, and IoT devices system design .

Preferred Qualifications

  • MS in Engineering (Electrical, Controls/Automation or Computer)

  • Ability to manage multiple stakeholder deliverables, requirements, and navigate difficult situations.

  • Registered as a Professional Engineer (PE), or certified Project Management Professional (PMP).

  • Experience in design and development of video monitoring service including but not limited to cameras, NVR’s and Lenel system integrations

  • Experience in managing product testing labs specific to security systems design validation.

  • Experience with AWS compute, storage, and database products.

  • Testing automated systems for efficiency, safety, and reliability.

  • Proven track record for cultivating strong relationships with internal stakeholders, vendors, or customers.

  • Excellent communication skills, teamwork, organizational and problem-solving skills.

  • In depth understanding of critical data center electrical equipment.

  • Be a motivated leader and a highly dependable individual.

  • Ability to carry new design concepts through exploration, development, deployment and sustaining.

  • An ability and willingness to think outside of the box to find creative and innovative solutions to reduce costs with no impact on quality, reliability, or maintainability.
