The successful candidate will report into a Sr. Finance Manager. This will include working with central accounting, finance operation and Global financial teams to ensure we have a controlled accounting process to do month end accounting and reporting activities in a manner fitting with our "Customer Obsession", “Deliver Results” and “Insist on Highest Standard” philosophy.

The Accounting Manager responsibilities include month end activities and ensure proper review of account balances for Amazon, preparation and review of monthly/quarterly/annually reconciliations and balance sheet analysis. This position will support the management in all aspects of financial accounting, reporting systems, procedures and policies. On the audit front, Senior Staff accountant will manage department’s response to internal and external audit requirements and will ensure compliance with SOX requirements for all geographies/activities handled by Shared Services. This position will also play an important role in promoting systems/process development within department to ensure ongoing efficiency and control improvements.

Key job responsibilities

Business Responsibilities

· Use data and make recommendations to influence strategic decision-making and planning. Independently align financial and operational analyses with your business partners, challenging business partner assumptions when necessary

· Manage all reporting and analytics deliverables within agreed SLA's established with Central Accounting.

· Use solid financial knowledge and business acumen to build financial models and analyses with little guidance and draw conclusions and make recommendations that deliver results, drive improvements, and may have global impact

· Controllership will be your top priority. You identify and solve complex data integrity issues and collaborate with stakeholders on resolution

· Demonstrate appropriate understanding / working knowledge of accounting principles and internal controls

· Lead the Accounting team and partner with Central Accounting to submit accurate financial statements aligned with US GAAP with high standards of quality.

· Partner with Service Center teams to document month-end close issues; make recommendations for improved controls, as necessary.

· Report on the health of the month-end close, operational and reporting processes - create scorecard on inputs and outputs metrics.

· Create reporting capabilities and communicate the operational results through monthly reviews with Central Accounting teams.

· Perform processes' dive deeps to identify improvement opportunities and underlying issues causing defects in the regular operation.

Basic Qualifications

  • 8+ years of tax, finance or a related analytical field experience

  • 3+ years of advanced proficiency in Excel (pivots, lookups, etc.) experience

  • 6+ years of applying key financial performance indicators (KPIs) to analyses experience

  • 6+ years of building financial and operational reports/data sets that inform business decision-making experience

  • 6+ years of creating process improvements with automation and analysis experience

  • 5+ years of directly managing and leading a team of 5+ members experience

Preferred Qualifications

  • 6+ years of participating in continuous improvement projects in your team to scale and improve controllership with measurable results experience

  • 6+ years of identifying incomplete or inaccurate data, identifying the root cause and creating/implementing an escalation plan experience

  • 6+ years of mentoring junior finance and/or business team members experience

  • 3+ years of working with senior staff (e.g. c-suite) experience

  • Experience working with large-scale data mining and reporting tools (i.e. SQL, MSAccess, Essbase or Cognos) and providing recommendations based on results of ad hoc analyses to management for strategic decision-making
