St. Peters Health Early Childhood Lead Teacher (ECLT) Preschool Room - Pete's Place North in Helena, Montana

JOB SUMMARY (overview of job): This position is responsible for supervision of Preschool ages 2-5 years old.

Under general supervision and according to specific procedures, the Lead Teacher (ECLT) is responsibility of planning and executing classroom activities, assisting in the maintenance of a safe, healthy and stimulating classroom environment, providing constant supervision of children at all times including planning time, outside play, meal time, and nap time. This position assists in the monitoring and training of Assistant Teacher (ECAT), trainees and supportive staff. This position maintains sensitivity to children’s individuality and responds to those needs appropriately and quickly by guiding the behavior of children in positive and effective ways. This position maintains the highest level of professionalism at all times. This position encourages experimentation, exploration, problem solving, cooperation, and socialization choice-making; ask open-ended questions and follow-up questions to promote further learning and thinking. This position follows a consistent schedule which includes small and large group experiences, choice time, music and movement, large and small motor activities, skill development, meals and effective transitions between activities. This position prepares the classroom environment and materials to support developmentally appropriate curriculum plans and learning experiences. This position assesses individual and group needs, attending to specific interests, strengths and concerns. This position coordinates with ECAT when indicated, developing a collaborative approach that benefits all children in the classroom. This position maintains regular parent/teacher conferences for the purpose of assessment and support, and to share information on classroom progress and educational strategies to future children’s development. This position monitors for and reports child abuse. This position attends and participates in trainings and appropriate professional development activities. This position attends and participates in meetings. This position equally shares cleaning and sanitizing responsibility with ECAT. This position engages in ongoing self-assessment about job performance. This position follows State Licensing Regulation, Health Department and Fire Marshal Standards, CACFP requirements and STARS to Quality Standards for our current Level.

Aptitudes: Demonstrates ability to handle multiples tasks and stressors effectively and efficiently. Demonstrates genuine interest and enjoyment of small children and the ability to stay calm in all situations and to respond to children in a quiet, reassuring manner. Demonstrates ability to exercise good judgement and critical thinking skills to ensure the safety and wellbeing of children.
