St. Peters Health Clinical Pharmacist - Pharmacy (1.0 FTE) in Helena, Montana

JOB SUMMARY (overview of job): Supports the mission of ST Peter’s Hospital and the Pharmacy Department through compounding, dispensing and clinical activities that contribute to the provision of exceptional and compassionate health care.

KNOWLEDGE/EXPERIENCE: Knowledge of pharmacy dispensing systems including unit dose and IV admixture systems. Knowledge of compounding procedures includes aseptic technique in the compounding of IV admixtures. Knowledge of drug interactions and drug incompatibilities. Must posses knowledge of drug therapy and pharmacologic treatment of disease states. Knowledge of drug cost benefits as related to drug therapy. Knowledge of enteral and parental nutrition including knowledge of the various products available, differences between products, basic patient nutritional and electrolyte needs and compounding procedures for parental nutrition. Knowledge of the use of a computer and keyboard. Experience with use of a keyboard, use of Windows programs, use of e-mail and use of the internet.

EDUCATION: BS or Pharm D in Pharmacy.

LICENSE/CERTIFICATION/REGISTRY: Licensed registered pharmacist in Montana. Must not have any restrictions on license that would inhibit completion of assigned duties such as restrictions on handling or dispensing controlled substances.

Ability to handle these situations in a calm and courteous manner that contributes to the overall efficiency and productivity of the pharmacy. Ability to prioritize workload to ensure emergent and stat workload are completed in a timely manner. *Demonstrated flexibility, adaptability and creativity in dealing with a variety of workload situations and demands. *Demonstrated ability to work effectively with a wide variety of people with different sociological and educational backgrounds. *Demonstrated interpersonal skills and writing skills necessary to communicate effectively with physicians and various other hospital personnel regarding medication use and drug information. *Demonstrated high level of mental acuity and intelligence. *Demonstrated high level of motivation to keep current with drug information and current trends in pharmacy. *Demonstrated analytical skills to determine drug appropriateness and evaluate drug interactions. Ability to collect pertinent clinical data, analyze results, make recommendations and follow-up on recommended actions. *Demonstrated ability to use sound judgement in dealing with complex situations. Provides logical and effective course of action while recognizing limitations of knowledge and experience in response to issues involving pharmaceutical care or pharmacy procedures.
