JOB REQUIREMENTS: Position Title: Assistant Director of Facilities Management Reports To: Director of Facilities Management FLSA Status: Non-exempt, Hourly Annual Contract: Full Time 52 Weeks Pay Rate: Negotiable - Dependent on qualifications. Posting Date: July 22, 2024 Application Deadline: August 5, 2025, or until filled Start Date: As soon as possible In-Person - Not Remote General Position Summary: This is a full-time 52-week position; hours include evenings and Saturdays. Assist in Supervising physical plant operations including all buildings and grounds, utilities, energy management systems and safety/security systems in order to provide a safe, healthy, and comfortable environment for students, faculty and staff. The individual/Assistant in this position is responsible for the scheduling and assisting supervision of maintenance and repair activities, contracted services, and custodial services, and ensuring the physical operation of the University meets budgetary and strategic objectives. Ability to bend, twist, stoop, climb ladders, and lift and carry up to 50 pounds required. Must be able to recognize safety concerns and adhere to safety procedures. Requires ability to use a variety of custodial equipment, chemicals/cleaning methods, operate and maintain building and grounds equipment, read labels and follow instructions, assist with security issues at public events, exercise good judgment at all times, and communicate effectively with staff, faculty, and students. Key Responsibilities: The Assistant Director of Facilities Management will provide the Director assistance with the following activities, tasks and responsibilities: Supervision of department staff Assist the Facilities Director with schedules, and management of external contractors (electricians, plumbers, excavators, roofers, painters, landscapers, etc.) Assist with the ordering of equipment, supplies and monitors\' inventory Assist with preventative maintenance and renovation programs for buildings, grounds, mechanical and electrical, utility, and safety and security systems Assist custodial crew engaged in cleaning University buildings and premises Assist with preparing specifications for physical plant projects; estimates costs of equipment, materials, labor, and supplies; prepares bid specifications for projects, equipment, and contracted services; oversees site and building projects performed by outside contractors Assist with the development of specifications for cost-effective campus energy management systems; supervises the operations, maintenance and repair of such systems Ensure the proper disposal of hazardous and controlled wastes in compliance with regulations and guidelines; works directly with Tribal and outside agencies such as OSHA, and local and state health departments as required Strip, seal & wax hard floors, clean carpets, bathrooms and fixtures, etc. Wash windows and painting when needed Grounds keeping duties including and not limited to: raking, trimming shrubs and plants, shoveling, snow removal from sidewalks and entryways: maintain all power tools and equipment in good working order and secure after each use Sweep, Mop, wash walls, dust, move furniture and equipment, replace fluorescent bulbs, empty waste receptacles, replenish supplies and perform miscellaneous household duties Identify maintenance, facilities and grounds related issues which may exist and assist in troubleshooting solutions. Maintain Equipment including but not limited to: Vehicles, boats, lawn tractors etc., Power tools and hand tools necessary to maintain buildings and grounds and shipping/receiving activities Keep premises safe and buildings and equipment secured Assist with the setup of classrooms or meeting rooms upon request with chairs, tables, AV equip and miscellaneous necessities Full responsibilities on website.
