Pike County Area Agency on Aging is seeking a part-time Senior Center Operator to join our team. Our mission is to assist residents 60 years old and over remain in their home safely and promote their quality of life. DESCRIPTION OF WORK

As a Senior Center Operator 1, you will be tasked with organizing and scheduling activities for senior citizens in a neighborhood senior center. Work includes responding to inquiries regardingfederal, state, and agency regulations and policies, checking the daily delivery of food, as well as arranging and scheduling custodial services. Effective communication is essential in this position as you will be speaking with program consumers to encourage them to participate in the center's recreational and instructional activities and to stimulate social interaction. Additional responsibilities include evaluating the success of center services in accomplishing program goals, handling complaints, and referring consumer to appropriate federal, state, local, or private human service agencies to obtain benefits and services which they are eligible to receive.

Work Schedule and Additional Information: Part-time employment. Work hours are 7:30 AM to 12:30 PM, Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. Salary:In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable. QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Experience and Training Requirements: Three months of experience in providing direct services in a human services, education or a community based setting to the aging population or to individuals from various cultures and socio-economic backgrounds or to individuals who have physical, intellectual or emotional disabilities; or Any equivalent combination of experience and training. Hiring preference for this vacancy may be given to candidates who live within Pike County. If no eligible candidates who live within Pike County apply for this position, candidates who reside in other counties may be considered. You must be able to perform essential job functions.
