The City of Havelock seeks a part-time Zoning and Nuisance Abatement Officer with the Department of Planning and Code Enforcement.

• The employee will perform office and field work related to zoning enforcement and nuisance abatement.
• The position will assist with enforcement of the City Unified Development Ordinance and City Code for Nuisance Abatement.
  • Work will include investigating complaints, assisting property owners with zoning and code regulations, identifying zoning violations and preparing and tracking notices.

Education and experience

• Graduation from an accredited four (4) year college or university with a Bachelors degree in Planning, Environmental Science, or other related field.
• Prior experience with code enforcement at the municipal, county, or state governmental level is preferred.
• Candidates should have a working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel, excellent written and oral communication skills, the ability to work independently in a professional environment, and the ability and desire to learn new skills.

The hours are weekdays, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., 15 - 20 hours/week.
