Job Summary

The School of Music at the University of Southern Mississippi seeks an engaged teacher and active scholar to offer a broad array of courses in the Western musical tradition and to engage in service to the school, particularly in the realms of undergraduate teaching and graduate committee service. The area of specialization is open, but experience in historical performance practices, world musics, or music after 1945 is particularly welcome. This is a one-year appointment with the possibility of renewal.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

  • Teach undergraduate and/or graduate courses as assigned.

  • Service on School of Music committees

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

ABD in Musicology at the time of application, university teaching experience as instructor-of-record, and evidence of professional activity in the field of musicology.

Preferred Qualifications

Ph.D. in Musicology completed prior to the start of the appointment.
