Job Summary

The School of Child and Family Sciences at the University of Southern Mississippi invites applications for an adjunct position to support the Bachelor of Science Degree in Child and Family Sciences (CFS). This undergraduate degree program has two emphases, Family Science and Child Development and is accredited by the American Association for Family and Consumer Sciences. The school also has a master’s degree in Child and Family Sciences, a master’s degree in Marriage and Family Therapy and is home to the Center for Child Development and the Center for Family Therapy.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

  • Prepare and provide asynchronous online classes for undergraduate students;

  • Prepare and submit syllabi, grades, and other required course documentation in a timely manner;

  • Communicate course requirements and expectations to students; and communicate effectively with assigned faculty mentor/program coordinator;

  • Follow instructional protocols established by the University and the School;

  • Be available to students through virtual office hours; and

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

1) An earned master’s degree in Child and Family Science, Human Development and Family Science, or closely related field.

2) Criminal history and background check clearance

  • Strong written and oral communication skills.

  • Ability to work effectively and collegially with students, staff, and faculty from diverse backgrounds, programs, and colleges.

  • Expertise in the area for which you are applying.

  • Ability to be flexible.

  • Knowledge of, or the ability to learn, University policies and procedures.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with online course delivery and instruction. Experience with Canvas technology.
