Project Overview:

This position is for software development, maintance and configuration for one of the major Bechtel applications in the domain of Project Controls.

Job Summary:

In this role, you will analyze end user requirements, evaluate existing code and software applications, develop and debug software applications on a team, and provide technical solutions. You will participate in developing specifications, design of database schemas, unit test cases, and peer reviews. Your contributions will assist in optimizing application performance to meet the needs of the business.

Major Responsibilities:

Level I:

  • Works as part of the software development team to develop and debug software applications.

  • Participates in developing programming specifications based on business requirements and analyzes, maintains and implements existing software applications

  • Analyzes user requirements and transforms into technical solutions at a unit or module level and evaluates existing code to ensure it meets functional requirements

  • Adheres to Corporate Software Development Methodology Framework

  • Participates in the design of database schemas and/or objects

  • Understands syntax for all joins, constraints, cursors, and temp table usage in an RDMS

  • Possesses ability to do basic UI customization

  • Has ability to create simple paginated reports

  • Contributes to front-end and back-end development processes

  • Possesses Git proficiency (branching, merging, pull requests, conflict resolution)

  • Conducts peer review of simple code, individual functions, chunks of code

  • Creates and executes unit test cases for his/her scope of work

  • Works as a part of agile team and participates in agile ceremonies

  • Assists in optimizing application performance including SQL tuning

Level II:

  • Collaborates with customers to understand their needs and designs/develops new products and web and mobile applications that meet their requirements

  • Improves existing systems and schemas to enhance performance, scalability and maintainability

  • Assists in estimating the software development work for new application development and maintenance of existing applications

  • Identifies and evaluates new technologies and innovations to improve the efficiency, productivity and quality of work processes

  • Adheres to Corporate Software Development Methodology Framework

  • Designs and creates database schemas and objects

  • Helps create build pipelines in git to deploy applications to a QA server

  • Possesses ability to perform intermediate UI customization

  • May create paginated reports using API and stored procedure database sources

  • Secures application access using role-based security

  • Troubleshoots and optimizes application and database performance

  • Works closely with developers and users to assure that business requirements are accurately represented in the design and implementation phases

  • Looks for continuous improvement opportunities and helps implements solutions

  • Assists in developer induction and conducts product/ technical trainings

  • Works as part of the software development team to develop and debug software applications.

  • Analyzes, maintains, and implements new, existing software applications and develops programming specifications from business requirements.

  • Analyzes user requirements directly into technical solutions at a unit or module level and analyzes existing code to ensure it meets functional requirements.

  • Conducts peer review of medium complexity code, individual modules

  • Creates and executes unit test cases for his/her scope of work

  • Works as a part of agile team and participate in agile ceremonies

  • May lead development of a module or a small project

Education and Experience Requirements:

Level I:

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Computer Engineering or other related Engineering courses

  • 2-4 years of strong software design and development experience, building and administering large-scale distributed applications

Level II:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or other related Engineering courses

  • 4-8 years of strong software design and development experience, building and administering large-scale distributed applications

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Basic Qualification:

  • Strong software design and development experience, building and administering large-scale distributed applications

  • Oracle, SQL Server, C#, ASP.net, API Development and JavaScript experience

Preferred Qualification:

  • Knowledge of data models, database design ad related technologies

  • Knowledge of Azure and Big Data eco-system

  • Experience in any of following:

  • Experience in PostgreSQL

  • Experience in React, Node.js, TypeScript

  • Experience in Microsoft Power Platform

  • Willing to apply system development experience on configuration of COTS applications

  • Master, Reference and Metadata Management, Data Quality, Integration, Interoperability

  • CI/CD experience with Git, TFS, Azure DevOps and/or containers
