Description:

Come join the Centralized Transport team at Saint Francis Hospital, part of Trinity Health Of New England! We are a member of the nationwide Trinity Health family, bringing compassionate care to our communities.

Position Purpose:

Performs assigned duties in the Central Service, Mail Room/Messenger and Transportation areas. Position may require working at either campus or alternate sites.

What you will do:

  • Ensures proper handling of used equipment or trays to be reprocessed by Central Supply.

  • Delivers/prepares medical and surgical supplies, insures of correct and timely delivery for customer satisfaction.

  • Performs patient transportation duties, observing customer satisfaction objectives, patient safety/comfort and timely completion of all assignments.

  • Acts as a preceptor to incoming patient transportation aides, stressing customer service and patient satisfaction in relation to transportation department.

  • Processes postal/inter-office mail, pick up and/or delivery of specimens, packages and flowers.

  • Maintains a clean and safe environment and contributes to the efficient operation of the department.

Physical and Mental Efforts:

  • Position requires ability to frequently lift objects of more than 100 pounds, perform moderately difficult manipulative and gross body coordination skills; walking and standing; see objects closely and hear normal sounds with some background noises. Position requires ability to constantly concentrate on fine detail with interruption and attend to tasks for more than 60 minutes at a time. Individual must be able to understand and relate to theories behind several related concepts and remember multiple tasks given over long periods of time. Pushing and lifting of heavy equipment/patients. Knowledge of the principles of body mechanics for lifting and moving.

Environmental and Working conditions:

  • Employee may constantly be exposed to blood, body tissue or fluids; hazardous waste materials; toxins, cytotoxins or poisonous substances or hazardous materials such as chemicals; bodily injuries and electrical hazards.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.

  • Must be able to push and lift heavy equipment and/or patients.

  • Ability to interact with CSD and other Hospital employees; ability to read and write English. Ability to adequately use, or learn to use, the department's computerized system and its associated devices.
