Eversource Energy Systems Engineer (Hybrid) in Hartford, Connecticut

Our Team

We have a unique opportunity to join the Transmission Development Team. Through Tariff obligations, the Transmission Development Teamis responsible for directly supporting the Company as they interconnect new generation, specifically offshore wind, battery storage and solar projects, as well as load projects associated with EV cars/buses charging stations and data centers, in a safe and reliable manner ensuring reliable power to our 4.4 million customers.

The Systems Engineer will work across a multitude of departments within Eversource to creatively find solutions to track progress of these transmission interconnection projects. Through creative thinking, propose new ideas for monitoring the buildout and billing requirements associated with these novel interconnections. The Systems Engineer will need to be able to work with complex software systems and provide technical services to support our interconnection leads as they work with developers.

Taking a lead role, the Systems Engineer will research, pitch and implement new software programs and support strategic project development for the Company. Our organization is growing and there an immediate need for an Engineer with strong project management skills coupled with a savvy understanding of IT systems to integrate these transmission interconnections.

The role is based on Hartford, CT .

Essential Functions

  • Providesengineering/technicalexpertise and guidance in the identification, analysis, and resolution of problems of increasing scope and complexity in both inside as well as outside the scope of typical responsibility.
  • Ensures accomplishment of business goals and objectives through effective planning, organizing, estimating, scheduling and monitoring of work activities; decisions may affect the operations or results of the work group and may have some impact on major projects or department results.
  • Prepares thorough and accurate technical reports, correspondence, documentation, calculations, and sketches related to defined problems and analysis of increasing scope and complexity.
  • Conducts engineering and related studies; completes non-routine engineering projects with minimal oversight with the ability to independently manage project schedules and interfaces; Possesses and applies the fundamental engineering concepts, practices and procedures; proficient in technical and analytical competencies necessary to handle assignments of increasing complexity.
  • Develops positive working relationships to effectively coordinate work activities.
  • Demonstrates effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Maintains accurate records and files.
  • Supports the company's goals and represents the company positively and professionally.

Technical Knowledge/Skills

  • Knowledge of utility power systems is preferred.
  • Ability to independently develop, present and execute new projects through collaborations with other departments.
  • Familiarity with power related and financial software is highly desired.

Education Bachelor’s degree in engineering or equivalent

Experience 3-5 years related experience is required. Engineering design experience preferred.

Working Conditions

  • Must be available to work emergency restoration assignment as required.
  • Depending on the specific nature of the engineering role, position may require occasional to significant travel by car. A valid driver’s license is required.
  • Our hybrid schedule is 90 days in the office and then move to hybrid flexible schedule.

Compensation and Benefits
