WHAT ARE THE RESPONSIBILITIES OF THIS POSITION?

The position will be responsible for analysis of The Hartford’s investment results. Primary responsibilities include: review NAIC designations, and NAIC filings, assess impacts of new statutory guidance on the Hartford’s investment portfolio, monthly reconciliations and analytics of invested assets on both a GAAP and a statutory basis, internal management reporting and preparation of statutory footnotes and investment schedules.

This role will have a Hybrid work arrangement, with the expectation of working in the Hartford, CT office 3 days a week (Tuesday through Thursday).

Specific tasks include:

  • Monitoring NAIC designations to make sure STAT reports are in compliance with NAIC

  • Gather required documents for NAIC filings and submit the filing on time

  • Actively participate in NAIC and interested party discussions around exposure drafts

  • Understand GAAP and statutory guidance to provide assistance on the implementation of new accounting standards and investment strategies

  • Assist in monthly close of investment results for The Hartford including reconciliations between the investment accounting platform, the investment sub-ledger and the general ledger.

  • Prepare analytics for senior management explaining primary drivers of movements

  • Preparation and analysis of investment sections of statutory statements, disclosures, and supplements.

  • Support Sarbanes documentation and continuously monitor internal controls

  • Drive automation improvements and projects, including standardized variance analysis, utilizing the TM1 application and other platforms

  • Ownership over the creation of various internal monthly and quarterly management reporting tools and metrics

WHAT ARE THE QUALIFICATIONS FOR THIS POSITION?

  • Strong STAT accounting knowledge, experience in NAIC investment filings a plus

  • Familiar with STAT exposures such as principals-based bond definition and PLGI ratings

  • Experience with SVO and AVS+ systems a plus

  • Knowledge in price points for structure securities, understand capital structure, collateral types

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting/finance or related field required, CPA a plus

  • 2 -5 years of accounting, reporting or finance experience

  • Strong analytical, communication, and documentation skills

  • Proficiency with MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint required; TM1 and Wdesk is a plus

  • Ability to react and successfully balance multiple competing priorities in a dynamic, fast paced work environment under strict time constraints

  • Proven track record of taking initiative to research and resolve issues

  • Able to work both independently and as part of a team

Compensation

The listed annualized base pay range is primarily based on analysis of similar positions in the external market. Actual base pay could vary and may be above or below the listed range based on factors including but not limited to performance, proficiency and demonstration of competencies required for the role. The base pay is just one component of The Hartford’s total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include short-term or annual bonuses, long-term incentives, and on-the-spot recognition. The annualized base pay range for this role is:

$69,840 - $104,760
