    POSITION HIGHLIGHTS

  • Full time, 40 hours per week.

  • Monday through Friday.

  • First Shift.

  • 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM. Adjusted work schedule requests can be considered upon obtaining permanent status, after completion of the promotional working test period, if applicable.

  • Location: 450 Columbus Boulevard in Hartford.

  • Hybrid (combination of telework and in-office).

    THE ROLE

    As part of a dynamic and energetic team, the Parent Cabinet Coordinator will lead the work of supporting the OEC Parent Cabinet, to include:

  • Working in collaboration with a diverse set of stakeholders including state and local partners, parent ambassadors, parent groups, contractors, and early childhood providers.

  • Supporting and implementing efforts related to family partnership and engagement throughout the agency.

  • Implementing strategies to strengthen the role of the Parent Cabinet.

  • Create family engagement strategies, inclusive of developing policies and systems locally and statewide to raise up the voice and perspective of parents and families.

  • Other duties as assigned.

    PURPOSE OF JOB CLASS (NATURE OF WORK)

In the Department of Education and the Office of Early Childhood this class assists in planning and executing a program for the improvement of education in the state; under supervision is responsible for carrying out specific technical and statistical assignments.

EXAMPLES OF DUTIES

  • Assists in the development and operation of educational programs and services offered by the state;

  • Provides professional and technical assistance to school authorities, professional organizations, students and various community groups and individuals;

  • May assist in the routine functioning of the bureau;

  • Performs related duties as required.

    KNOWLEDGE, SKILL AND ABILITY

  • Knowledge of

  • the philosophy and methods of education with particular reference to the field concerned;

  • statistical and technical procedures;

  • Presentation skills;

  • Ability to

  • prepare reports;

  • deal effectively with others.

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS - GENERAL EXPERIENCE

A Bachelor's degree in education or a closely related field and two (2) years of relevant professional experience.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience developing and implementing leadership strategies to increase the role and skills of parents with young children at decision-making tables.  

  • Experience facilitating group meetings and utilizing Microsoft products such as TEAMS, Zoom, Word, Excel and PowerPoint. 

  • Experience composing letters, memoranda and guidance documents for internal and external stakeholder use. 

  • Experience developing and managing contracts and budgets.

  • Experience analyzing data to inform programs and practices. 

  • Experience presenting to external and internal stakeholders.

    SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

    Incumbents in this class may be required to hold an appropriate educator or administrator certificate issued by the Bureau of Certification and accreditation.
