TEKsystems Medical Receptionist in Hartford, Connecticut

We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Medical Receptionist to join our dedicated team. If you have a passion for patient care and excellent organizational skills, we invite you to apply!

The front desk role is essential in the management of the patient process and is a liaison between the clinician, referring specialist, and the patient. The chosen employee must simultaneously maintain the waiting room, assist patients and clinicians on an individual basis and manage referrals, etc. The chosen front desk employee will also rotate between back-end duties and phones.

Responsibilities:

  • Meets and greets patients with a warm, friendly welcome and professional manner.

  • Registers patients upon arrival which includes confirming demographic information; obtains insurance information for patient and partner (if applicable); enters information in Athena and Resource as well as Engaged MD

  • Exits patient upon completion of appointment; collect co-pays or balances, schedules next appointment if indicated and completes charge entry processes.

  • Answers and triages phone calls in a timely and professional manner

  • Maintains a strong rapport and open lines of communication with Virtual Assistants in the NP intake process.

  • Seeks assistance from clinical and administrative team leadership to support provision of care and patient satisfaction.

  • Functions as liaison between patients and clinical providers via electronic medical record and emailing system

  • Monitors physician schedules for accuracy according to the established template created in Athena, confirms pending appointments, and evaluates cancelled or no shows (abandoned) appointments.

  • Daily clinical prep - understands and supports the clinical team needs, prints daily encounters, attaches paperwork required for morning monitoring; prepares encounter forms and required paperwork for new and returning patients.

  • Responsible to cover the Medical Records position for absences, vacations, or any other requested time off. Travel may be required.

  • Maintains clinic reception area and monitor patient flow.

  • Understands the requirements associated with HIPAA and Confidentiality for all patients.

Requirements:

  • Proven experience in a similar role in a healthcare setting.

  • Experience as a Medical Receptionist or Medical Call Center/Customer service, pharmacy or related preferred.

  • Prior EMR/EHR experience preferred.

  • Familiarity with medical terminology, insurance procedures, and electronic health records.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with patients.

  • Strong organizational and multitasking abilities to manage a busy front desk efficiently.

  • Proficiency in using computer systems and basic software applications.

  • Attention to detail and accuracy in patient data entry and scheduling.

  • High school diploma or equivalent.

Details:

  • Schedule: Monday - Friday | 7:30am - 4:00pm (40 hours per week)

  • Pay: $19 - $20/hr.

  • Pay cycle - weekly | medical, dental & vision benefits offered.

  • This position will work between the Farmington, CT & Hartford, CT office. Applicants must be comfortable working in either location.
