As a key stakeholder within the Strategy & Optimization organization, the Business Consultant shall support our Group Benefit Claims organization. This group includes several business segments such as Long Term Disability, Premium Waiver, Life products and Clinical operations. Our team helps to drive business process efficiencies while also leveraging technology innovations. Opportunities for continuous improvement strategies are developed thru the use of data analytics, process discovery and customer input. Our selected candidate will be accountable for employing a data driven approach to identify, quantify, design, test, implement, and sustain claim process implementation considering process only, Artificial Intelligence and traditional technology solutions. The Business Consultant shall also help to influence the prioritization, design and execution of the business’ change management plan thru regular collaboration with business partners in Operations, Strategy & Optimization, Underwriting, Sales, IT, Data Science, Compliance, Legal, Finance, CCRM and Products.

WORK ARRANGEMENTS: This role can have a Hybrid or Remote work arrangement.  Candidates who live near one of our office locations ( San Antonio, TX, Hartford, CT, Lake Mary, FL, Scottsdale, AZ, Naperville, IL, New York, NY or Danbury, CT) will have the expectation of working in an office 3 days a week (Tuesday through Thursday). Candidates who do not live near an office will have a remote work arrangement, with the expectation of coming into an office as business needs arise.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Identify and recommend opportunities to optimize existing processes

  • Assess, quantify and prioritize future opportunities using a data driven analytics

  • Own the development and maintenance of performance metrics and scorecards

  • Follow an agile methodology to guide the project lifecycle from initial review thru the test & learn analysis, pilots and the full implementation phase

  • Create process maps and hypotheses for test & learns that will inform solution designs

  • Obtain input and agreement from subject matter experts and stakeholders

  • Develop control plans and maintain ownership of financial benefit realization

  • Review, evaluate, and report out on operational/project status, risks and dependencies

  • Ensure solution designs deliver high quality outcomes and financial performance

  • Develop business cases for change, including cost-benefit analysis and implementation plans

  • Determine the change management strategy and decision-making framework for the success metrics

  • Participate in the development and implementation of strategic business initiatives

  • Collect and analyze “Voice of the Customer” and “Voice of the Business” data

  • Review benchmarking information and third- party assessment data to inform requirements and business decisions in support of continuous improvement initiatives

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Minimum of 4 years of experience in process optimization and/or continuous improvement

  • Six Sigma yellow belt or green belt certification is preferred

  • Must be able to critically think and challenge the status quo

  • SQL knowledge preferred

  • Data analytics background is a plus

  • Ability to analyze and dissect data and provide recommendations to stakeholders based in facts, data, and logic

  • Able to build and foster strong working relationships; persuasive/able to influence others.

  • Prior Agile experience is required; knowledge of Rally is a plus!

  • Readily able to cultivate productive business relationships in a highly matrixed environment

  • Demonstrated analytical analysis expertise with the capacity to translate findings to broad stakeholders

  • Ability to think strategically, broadly, and effectively influence business outcomes and thrive in an environment of ambiguity

  • Demonstrated success in leading cross-functional teams or change initiatives

  • Readily able to collect and analyze data to prove or disprove a potential hypothesis

  • Process redesign experience required

  • Experience designing and delivering Artificial Intelligence or predictive modeling a pl

  • Bias for teamwork and effective relationship building competencies

  • Strong oral and written communication skills with professional diplomacy

  • Strong time management skills and proven ability to effectively multi-task in a complex environment

Compensation

The listed annualized base pay range is primarily based on analysis of similar positions in the external market. Actual base pay could vary and may be above or below the listed range based on factors including but not limited to performance, proficiency and demonstration of competencies required for the role. The base pay is just one component of The Hartford’s total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include short-term or annual bonuses, long-term incentives, and on-the-spot recognition. The annualized base pay range for this role is:

$82,560 - $123,840
