Position Summary

The Actuary for Behavior Health will support state filings/audits, mental health parity (MHP) testing and all QTL (Quantitative Treatment Limits) testing. You will establish relationships with key stakeholders, subject matter experts and decision makers to effectively craft, implement and lead a suite of centralized activities that ensure timely, high quality mental health parity deliverables.

Must be able to communicate effectively across diverse teams, both verbally and in writing, and with all levels of the organization.

Responsibilities include MHP Focus:

  • Coordinate and program model updates annually with Behavior Health team

  • Assist in evaluating testing accounts for pass/fail for all Commercial areas including IFP, Small Group, Large Group and National Accounts

  • Assist in coordinating answers to audits and with QTL (Quantitative Testing Limitations) as needed

  • Work closely with the MHP and legal teams on audits and QTL updates by state

  • Work with AQC team to effectively roll out proactive testing in AQC to ensure that we build plans that pass

  • Performing claim studies for any mandate changes—what mandate changes could impact MHP testing guidelines

  • Ability to sign legal attestation as a credentialed actuary

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree along with 3+ years of actuarial experience

  • ASA is strongly preferred or almost at ASA designation

  • Working Knowledge of Mental Health Parity QTL testing

  • Strong VBA skills required

  • Strong written and verbal skills to communicate with internal and external legal, state representatives and all levels of the organization

  • Must possess robust analytical skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • ASA

  • prior mental health parity experience

  • AQC background is helpful

  • medical benefits knowledge is preferred

Pay Range

The typical pay range for this role is:

$60,300.00 - $145,860.00

This pay range represents the base hourly rate or base annual full-time salary for all positions in the job grade within which this position falls. The actual base salary offer will depend on a variety of factors including experience, education, geography and other relevant factors. This position is eligible for a CVS Health bonus, commission or short-term incentive program in addition to the base pay range listed above.
