The Data Strategy & Management organization (Chief Data Office) is responsible for the strategy, acquisition, evaluation, and responsible use of all types of data and data capabilities that can be utilized for innovation by a wide range of Mastercard product teams.

The Director, Data Strategy, NAM & LAC will be responsible for understanding the data landscape across both regions, identifying data needs and implementing appropriate data strategies. The role provides a unique opportunity to work across the different business verticals in the region, understanding how data is used in the region’s specific products and solutions. It requires an individual who is strategic and analytic, who understands data, can network and collaborate across business teams and can communicate complex concepts to various business and technical teams

Role

• Drive data design methodology for new products and services including determining data requirements for new products and enablement of business strategies, documenting Data Briefs, Data Flows, and data material as required by the product management process

• Translate the region’s business strategy into data strategy and related requirements for its customer relations, as well as its products and solutions, and identify related data gaps and required remediation

• Develop frameworks to define parameters of the region’s collection use, disclosure of data, taking into consideration the data, operational, reputational and partner-related requirements for the business

• Translate impacts of new laws and regulations impacting data into required operational and procedural changes to products and services. Collaborate with legal, privacy and regulatory teams to review data assets and proposed use cases of data to ensure alignment with policies and procedures

• Serve as a subject matter expert on internal and third-party data to support product development efforts that leverage that data, ensuring data standards and practices are adhered to

• Work with data platforms and TECH teams to define required changes to technology platforms resulting from business strategy and new products.

• Develop educational material and provide training as needed on data usage and data literacy.

• Serve as an expert to the rest of the organization on Mastercard data capabilities and assets to enable other business units to leverage those capabilities and assets to the extent practical and allowed under relevant laws and licenses.

All About You

• Advanced experience working with data products, either in acquisition, development, governance, or evaluation

• Strong understanding of data analytics

• Ability to communicate to internal and external stakeholders about the value of data; strong written and oral communication skills; ability to present complicated concepts in a clear and concise manner

• Exceptional interpersonal skills with proven experience in relationship building and partnering. Must work well in both team and individual settings and must be able to work with a geographically dispersed team

• Ability to create strategies and plans that define how data can be utilized to support an organization’s overall business strategy, how that data is organized and governed inside an organization

• Motivated self-starter with ability to excel at multi-tasking in a fast-paced environment and comfortable working under your own initiative

• Data management or data analytics experience in the payments industry preferred

In line with Mastercard’s total compensation philosophy and assuming that the job will be performed in the US, the successful candidate will be offered a competitive base salary based on location, experience and other qualifications for the role and may be eligible for an annual bonus or commissions depending on the role.
