The Office of Administrative Law Judge is a rewarding place to work because of the dynamic interaction between judges, attorneys, support staff, other bureaus, and the public! DESCRIPTION OF WORK As a Legal Assistant, you will be responsible for scheduling hearings and completing clerical duties in the Office of Administrative Law Judge. You will serve in an important role by typing orders and decisions for the administrative law judges and ensuring that due process and justice is provided to the public. Having a keen eye for detail is essential as you will be proofreading materials to ensure the transfer of information is grammatically and typographically correct and adheres to commission policy and methods. Additional duties may include routing mail to appropriate personnel, screening and routing telephone calls, placing telephone calls, photocopying documents, forms, or other materials, as well as faxing documents. You will also have the opportunity to assist other support staff and the Administrative Officer with various clerical tasks as workload dictates.
Work Schedule and Additional Information: Full-time employment Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday - Friday, with 60-minute lunch. Telework: Part-time work from home (telework) may be a potential feature of this position. The successful candidate is required to report to the headquarters worksite daily, unless the employee meets eligibility requirements and telework has been approved. Management may discontinue any telework arrangement at any time, for any reason. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office. To be eligible to participate in telework, the employee's alternate (telework) worksite must meet the following requirements: Within a reasonable travel distance of headquarters and Within the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Experience and Training Requirements: Three years of responsible clerical, enforcement, or investigative work; or An equivalent combination of experience and training.
