Position Overview

The Account Manager will work with and support Sales Executives and Producers for inside assistance by providing continuous service for assigned book of business and developing a thorough knowledge of accounts by becoming liaison between client and other departments within MPB Risk Services. This individual will be responsible for supporting agency growth and account retention goals by providing extraordinary client service, proactively expanding client relationships and marketing the services available.  The Account Manager will provide operations support to the team by maintaining client records, ensuring proper documentation, responding to inquiries, and processing account transactions. In a timely manner.

This individual will be responsible for building rapport and relationships with both internal and external clients.  The Account Executive will be self-directed and able to solve problems independently.  In addition, this individual will be goal driven and thrive on the achievement of performance-based metrics.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Supports Sales Executive and Producer in quoting and preparing new and renewal business proposals.
  • Builds and fosters strong relationships with clients, carrier representatives, underwriters and MPB colleagues.
  • Achieves assigned agency growth and account retention goals by reviewing expiration list.
  • Achieves goals assigned to the Account Executive as part of MPB Risk Services' annual operating plan.
  • Cross sells and markets agency services; places new and renewal accounts as appropriate in the market.
  • Enhances customer relationships and improves agency profitability through the sales and retention of insurance products and services.
  • Gathers necessary information and conducts customer interviews and sets sale appointments.
  • Follows up on all generated leads.
  • Profiles existing book of business and conducts regular client review meetings to enhance client relationships and to take advantage of additional sale opportunities.
  • Solicits new business from present and prospective customers.
  • Serves as a member of the sales team; makes group sales calls where these types of calls will improve the opportunity for new business development.
  • Assists customers in obtaining specialized services from other company departments as necessary; provides help to customers with specific inquiries or service problems.
  • Maintains a book of business that includes client file updates, ensures proper documentation, and processes all endorsement changes, invoices, binders, certificates of insurance, documentation, and related activities in a timely manner.
  • Completes daily workflow servicing assigned accounts by updating and keeping accurate records in Applied Epic.
  • Reports sales information and activity on a timely basis.
  • Maintains appropriate records and provides assigned reports.
  • Demonstrates strong communication skills through effective verbal and/or written exchanges, acti e listening and provides a respectful and timely response.
  • Handles escalated or difficult client service issues with tact and diplomacy, even in the absence of the Director.  Strives to resolve problems with a win/win solution.
  • Follows established agency workflows with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Ensures compliance with company policies and industry regulations.
  • Maintains confidentiality of all information related to clients, customers, employees, carriers, or as appropriate, other information.
  • Ensures documents are accurate and complete, minimizing the risk of errors or omissions that could lead to disputes or financial loss.
  • Performs tasks, which are supportive in nature to the essential functions of the job, but which may be altered or re-designed depending upon individual circumstances.
  • Regular and predictable attendance is required.

     

Education & Qualifications

  • A B.S. or B.A. degree in a related field strongly preferred.
  • A minimum of three (3) years' experience in a related positions normally required.
  • Current Insurance License for assigned state required.
  • Completion of CISR or CIC designation preferred.
  • Knowledge of all lines of insurance.
  • Thorough knowledge of agency operations, including claims handling, procedures, carrier rating, agency management systems and applicable insurance laws/codes.
  • Familiarity with risk management and risk management techniques.
  • Experience using Applied Epic or similar customer relationship management system strongly preferred.

     

Skill(s)

Proficient reading, writing, grammar, and mathematics skills; proficient interpersonal relations, communicative, and sales skills; a thorough knowledge of the features and benefits of all insurance products; proficient PC skills, including knowledge of word processing, database, and spreadsheet programs; ability to sit, stand, walk, bend, stoop, reach with hands or arms, use hands to manipulate objects, handle or feel, and lift items weighing 40 lbs. or less; visual, auditory and speaking skills; valid driver's license is required.
