The Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) is searching for an Air Quality Program Specialist to join our Regulatory Development and Training Section to lead the charge of developing rule-makings and State Implementation Plans (SIPS) in accordance with all applicable laws and procedures. DESCRIPTION OF WORK As part of this position, your main responsibility will be to conduct a comprehensive review of background research related to the development of regulations. This will involve considering various factors such as emission reduction potential, cost, and other relevant considerations. Additionally, you will be responsible for ensuring that information regarding the technical feasibility of regulatory strategies required to comply with the Air Pollution Control Act (APCA) and Clean Air Act (CAA) mandates is readily available. In addition to the above, you will also be in charge of developing and coordinating technical training programs for both the Bureau and Regional Air Quality staff. This will involve making informed decisions regarding schedules to meet regulatory deadlines set by the Department of Environmental Protection (DEP). You will also be responsible for formatting proposed and final rulemakings, regulatory analysis forms, and other materials included in regulatory packages. Strong writing skills are a must for this role, as you will need to adhere to the guidelines outlined in the Pa Code and Bulletin Style Manual, or similar resources. It is important to be proficient in crafting language that is legally defensible and consistent. Additionally, conducting thorough research on past rules and regulations will be essential in order to inform the drafting of new or amended language that builds upon previous language.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

Full-time employment Work hours are 7:30 AM to 3:30 PM, Monday - Friday, with 30-minute lunch. Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time, up to 3 days per week. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Harrisburg. Salary:In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable. Check your email, including spam/junk folders, for these notices.   REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

Two years of experience as an Air Quality Specialist; or One year of experience as an Air Monitoring Program Supervisor;  or Three years of professional work in the control and abatement of air pollution and a Bachelor's Degree in Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Engineering, or an environmental field closely related to Air Quality Management; or An equivalent combination of experience and/or training.

Special Requirement: This position requires possession of a valid Pennsylvania driver's license. Other Requirements: PA residency requirement is currently waived for this title. You must be able to perform essential job functions. How to Apply:
