Scope of Job

Responsible for the daily activities associated with implementation of the evaluation, assessment, and quality improvement functions at an assigned medically oriented school for curriculum evaluation and student assessment and analysis.

Description of Duties

  • Responsible for the daily assessment activities for the assigned medically oriented school four year pre-clinical and clinical curriculum and assurance of compliance with all assessment and reporting requirements.

  • Serves as Chief Proctor for administration of all exams administered by the school and is the primary contact for correspondence and communication regarding exam administration.

  • Responsible for coordinating and executing all activities and functions related to test administration to guarantee successful testing practices, including security and confidentiality.

  • Engages and collaborates with the IT team to assure that technology needs of testing environment and students are met, and that on-site technical support is available throughout all test administrations.

  • Coordinates and assures that the accommodation needs of identified students are met and handled in a confidential manner.

  • Acts as the main point of contact for students and faculty regarding any requests for changes in exam dates or venues and makes any changes as needed and possible.

  • Conducts regular meetings with Assistant Dean, Evaluation and Assessment Manager, and other stakeholders and identifies areas for quality improvement.

  • Recommends, develops, implements, analyzes and monitors quality improvement plans.

  • Responsible for the proper and secure storing of all confidential testing data.

  • Analyzes and recommends appropriate policies and procedures for the management of assessment activities, including policies and procedures related to Exam Administration and Exam Reviews.

  • In coordination with other staff, manages/oversees contracts and communicates with various testing service companies utilized by the school.

  • Creates and develops analytical and statistical performance reports for individual faculty and administrators as needed.

  • Provides training to faculty regarding the assessment process to assure consistent use of best practices and standardized implementation of exams across modules, courses and clerkships. Assures assessment practices are in compliance with accreditation standards.

  • Provides support to the Assistant Dean and Evaluation and Assessment Manager in regard to all evaluation services as needed.

  • Executes and administers the research, collection, and verification of survey data and conducts the preliminary data cleaning and data analysis for the Assistant Dean and Evaluation and Assessment Manager.

  • Participates in assigned committees.

  • Attends professional development seminars as necessary.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

General supervision from assigned supervisor.

Direct supervision of assigned staff.

Required Education

Master’s degree from an accredited university in a related field.

Required Experience

  • Two (2) years previous work experience in higher education in the areas of testing, assessment and/or evaluation. Knowledgeable and skilled in test administration, survey administration, uploading and cleaning of survey and assessment data and basic quantitative data analysis., or

  • Three years of the required work experience with a Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited university in a related field.

Preferred Experience

Test center administrator ( TCA ) supervisory experience in hiring testing proctors and completing payment vouchers for proctors.

Equipment

Use of standard office equipment. Knowledge of computational, data processing and machine scoring capabilities of computer systems, and biometric security equipment.

Working Conditions

Needs to be able to successfully perform all required duties. Office environment; some travel and some weekend/evening work is required. UTRGV is a distributed institution, which may require presence at multiple locations throughout the Rio Grande Valley.

Work performed on multiple projects concurrently, under pressure of rigid deadlines and time limitations. Ability to interact in a professional manner with faculty, staff, students and the public. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to read, analyze and interpret technical policies and procedures, and other professionally related documents. Ability to write reports, business correspondence and procedures. Ability to effectively write information and respond to questions from group of students, supervisors and the general public as necessary. Ability to work well with a variety of personnel including faculty, students and staff.
