Harbor Beach Community Hospital Certified Nursing Assistant in Harbor Beach, Michigan

1.     *  Assists in preparation of unit, resident rooms, and beds for receiving resident admissions, returning surgical patients, transfers, emergencies or discharges.  Receives daily report on assigned residents.

2.     *  Assists in and accompanies residents in admission, transfer and discharge procedures.

3.     *  Assists to provide post-mortem care.

4.     *  Provides morning or evening care, which may include bed bath/shower, oral hygiene, combing hair, back care, shaving facial hair, dressing resident, changing linens, cleaning tables and stands, straightening room and other general care as necessary throughout the day.

5.     *  Assists with diagnostic related resident care needs, as specified in the care plan.

6.     *  Performs routine treatment procedures, including enemas, application of heat and cold, and sitz baths, etc.

7.     *  Under the direct supervision of the physician or nurse, assist with procedures, as indicated.

8.     *  Provides for activities of daily living such as:  positioning residents; lifting and turning residents; applying/utilizing special equipment; assisting in use of toileting devices; ambulating the patient; application of abdominal binders or anti-embolism stockings.

9.     *  Proficiently takes and records temperature, pulse, respiration, weight, height, blood pressure, and intake-output measurements.

 

10.  *  Prepares residents for meals, serves and removes food trays, and assist with feeding residents as needed.

11.  *  Distributes drinking water and other appropriate nourishment to residents.

12.  *  Performs general care activities for residents in isolation, following appropriate procedures and standard precautions.

13.  *  Answers residents call lights promptly, anticipates resident needs, and makes rounds to assigned residents.

14.  *  Assists residents with handling and care of clothing and other personal property.

15.  *  Collects and transports specimens to various departments; delivers appropriate requisition as indicated.

16.  *  Transports residents to and from various departments as requested.

17.  Reports (and, when appropriate, records) any changes observed in condition or behavior of residents and unusual incidents.

18.  *  Participates in and follows resident care plan and Master Care Guide.

19.  Assists in maintaining a safe and clean environment by cleaning utility rooms, cleaning equipment and preparing for disinfection or sterilization, reporting equipment that is out of order, reporting other problems to nurse, appropriate handling of clean and dirty linen and storage of supplies on the unit.

20.  *  Ambulates residents and assists with the restorative program.

21.  Provides for careful, efficient, and non-wasteful use of supplies and linen; follows established procedure for charging for supplies.

22.  *  Documents appropriate data related to tasks performed.

23.  *  Functions as a "runner" during emergency situations-obtaining and transporting requisitions and supplies; relaying messages; summoning additional personnel as directed, etc.

24.  Takes an active role in the Quality Improvement program through involvement in:

a.     Promoting the Q.I. program

b.     Helps develop criteria for review to ensure quality resident care

c.     Assist with monitoring results and supporting or directing implementation of corrective action that will secure positive results

d.     Attends monthly C.N.A. meeting.

25.  Adheres to standards of nursing care and the policies and procedures of the hospital and nursing

       department.

26.  Demonstrates organization and efficiency in relation to time management and demonstrates a positive team

       relationship.

27.  Serves on committees as requested.
