The responsibilities of the Staff Accountant include preparing journal entries, monthly and year-end closings, bank reconciliation, fixed asset maintenance, and general ledger reconciliation. You'll also be responsible for various aspects of internal reporting during the monthly close. This position will also require you to participate in compliance, as well as communicate with our external auditors for quarterly reviews and annual audits, and review schedules for the reporting processes. This position involves a good deal of time spent on producing Financial Statements, Cash Flow projections, and Budgets. Key responsibilities

  • Complete month end close, journal entries, without supervision

  • Participate in various department-wide initiatives

  • Aid in implementation, maintenance and adherence to internal controls under SOX and accounting procedures ensuring compliance with GAAP

  • Play a role in the month end, quarter end and year end closing process including monthly financial close workbook preparation

  • Prepare monthly balance sheet and income statement analyses for management reporting

  • Report on a wide variety of financial data and communicate it in a useful and understandable manner

  • Ready complex journal entries and account reconciliations including but not limited to cash, prepaid expenses and payroll

  • Organize capital lease and monthly payment schedules

  • Carry out fixed asset ledger, depreciation, and reconciliation

  • Ad-hoc reporting and special projects, as requested

  • Ability to meet deadlines

  • High attention to detail

  • Ability to work within spreadsheets and databases

  • Comfortable working in a changing and dynamic environment

  • Strong analytical, communication, and leadership skills

  • Spreadsheet and database capabilities

  • Self-starter with efficient time management and organizational skills

  • BA/BS or equivalent in Accounting, Finance or Economics

  • Recent and relevant accounting experience

  • Fully formed organizational, written and verbal communication skills

  • Journal entries experience required

  • Microsoft Excel experience

  • Deep understanding of account reconciliation

  • Foundational knowledge in AS/400

  • Solid understanding of general ledger

  • ERP system experience
