ManpowerGroup Field Technician in Hampton, Virginia

Our client, a leading testing laboratory, is seeking a Field Technician to join their team. As a Field Technician, you will be responsible for performing a variety of laboratory and field tasks related to coal and coke testing. The ideal candidate will be hardworking, self-motivated, and possess strong attention to detail.

Job Title: Field Technician

Location: Hampton, VA

Pay Range: $17.50 per hour

What's the Job?

  • Perform operations that include grinding/crushing, dividing, drying, and mixing of gross samples of coal and coke, further laboratory preparation and testing.

  • Maintain the integrity of all samples throughout the preparation process.

  • Collect and verify the identity of gross samples and report any problems to the supervisor.

  • Perform physical lab tests including but not limited to crush and divide the gross samples for drying, testing, air dry size samples, and use of the sieve machine or screening samples, weighing, and recording data.

  • Collect, store and maintain reserve samples as ordered.

  • Clean and organize the work area(s).

  • May be required to perform assigned laboratory tests and record data.

  • Read and acknowledge Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s) related to the work tasks.

  • Follow supervisor instruction for all tasks assigned not limited to the aforementioned.

  • Wear personal protective equipment as needed including a respirator at times, steel toes boots, and other PPE provided.

What's Needed?

  • Hardworking, self-motivated, and very reliable/dependable.

  • Able to learn quickly and follow precise work instructions.

  • Possess general mathematics skills for computing numbers, weights, and division ratios.

  • Able to organize and pay close attention to detail.

  • Able to work independently and unsupervised.

  • Ability to lift 50 pounds and work for extended periods on their feet.

  • A High School diploma or GED is required.

  • Experience is preferred.

  • An active driver’s license is a must.

  • An approved background check by eRailSafe for access to secured areas is required. (supplied by HRT after hiring)

  • Drug screening is required.
