Since 1971, the Hampton-Newport News Community Services Board has provided a comprehensive continuum of high-quality, essential, and community-based services to citizens of the Peninsula who are living with mental illness, developmental disabilities, and substance use disorders.

Your role as a Director of Developmental Services and Adult Care Coordination

As the Director of Developmental Services and Adult Care Coordination, you will play a pivotal role in directing the design, implementation, and evaluation of clinical services tailored for individuals with developmental disabilities and mental illness. Your leadership will guide the delivery of essential programs, including case management, community residential initiatives, and a day program specifically for adults with developmental disabilities. With a focus on integration across disciplines, you will ensure compliance with regulatory, licensure, and accreditation standards. Your responsibilities will encompass managing program budgets, supporting administrative needs, and assessing productivity and outcome data.

You will also develop marketing and customer relations strategies to enhance the utilization of clinical programs while exploring new business opportunities. By aligning division activities with the Board's strategic plan, you will ensure that all services meet the clinical and fiscal objectives of the Hampton-Newport News Community Services Board.

What you need to be successful

To excel as the Director of Developmental Services and Adult Care Coordination, a Master's Degree in Behavioral Health is essential, along with five years of professional experience serving individuals with developmental disabilities and mental illness. Alternatively, candidates with a Bachelor's Degree in Behavioral Health and ten years of relevant experience will also be considered. Experience should include three years in a management role. Successful applicants must possess proven expertise in managing multiple programs and demonstrating skills in budget development and analysis. Strong analytical abilities are crucial for assessing productivity and outcomes data while ensuring compliance with regulatory standards.

Communication and interpersonal skills will facilitate effective collaboration across diverse teams and with external stakeholders. Additionally, proficiency with relevant software and tools will empower you to design and implement strategies that enhance service delivery and responsiveness. Knowledge and skills required for the position are:
