WTW Associate Director in Hamilton, Bermuda

The Role

The Company invites applications for the position of Actuarial Director within the life practice of ICT Bermuda with knowledge and experience of insurance and reinsurance. The Associate Director will work across a number of project teams supporting clients on a wide variety of engagements covering topics such as financial reporting, financial modelling and management, pricing, regulatory issues, mergers and acquisitions, regulatory issues, litigation, pricing, and product development.

Responsibilities

  • Contribute to development of intellectual capital that leads to our service offerings such as Predictive Analytics, Financial Modeling, Experience Analysis, Regulation Changes among others

  • Contribute to the growth of WTW’s Bermuda presence through active participation in industry-led events and following closely on regulatory updates.

  • Lead small projects and play a senior role in larger projects to meet client engagement objectives

  • Manage and direct junior colleagues that perform analysis and develop tools, ensuring a high quality work product has been prepared and will be delivered to the project manager or client

  • Directly contribute to client projects through applying technical actuarial expertise

  • Develop a trusted advisor relationship with client contacts through effective communication and efficient, quality execution of projects

  • Interface with colleagues from other practices and regions on assignments that reflect the client’s broader business issues

  • Build relationships internally and work collaboratively with others on cross-functional project teams

  • Demonstrate natural ease and effectiveness when dealing with clients/colleagues at all levels

  • Deliver superior, consistent project management for assigned clients

  • Perform peer reviews of work products as a quality control measure

  • Contribute to the development of new tools and approaches

  • Serve as mentor to junior project team associates

Requirements

  • Undergraduate degree

  • Fellow of Institute and Faculty of Actuaries, Casualty Actuarial Society, or equivalent professional qualification preferred

  • 5+ years or more of actuarial experience, including relevant experience in actuarial consulting at a life insurance company, consulting firm or financial services organization

  • Expertise to actuarial software (GGY AXIS, Risk Agility, MG-ALFA, Moses, Prophet, and/or Polysystems) is a plus

  • Proficient in at least one specific life insurance and/or annuity product line

  • Highly skilled in at least one of the following functional areas as applied to the life insurance industry: predictive analytics / data science, experience studies, financial reporting, financial modeling, mergers & acquisitions, and product development / pricing.

  • Proven experience managing multiple projects with multiple clients and producing quality deliverables on time and within budget

  • Strong interpersonal and team skills

  • Effective oral and written communication skills

  • Technically proficient in Microsoft Excel, reserving and financial modelling software (preferably ResQ and Igloo) and working knowledge of Microsoft PowerPoint and Word

  • Hardworking, willing to put in extra hours to meet deadlines and availability to travel on an as needed basis
