The position

The Offshore Permitting / Impact Assessment Lead position will sit within the Renewables business area of Equinor, reporting to the Consents Manager within the Europe Consenting & Permitting team. The position will primarily cover early phase development and permitting of projects in Germany, as well as supporting on wider European business development and strategic permitting related activities. The position will require regular travel within Germany and to our offices in the UK and Norway.

This position may also require representing Equinor at regional and national forums that strengthen Equinor’s values and objectives in offshore wind in Germany, Europe and overseas.

By joining our team in Renewables you will have the opportunity to:

  • Input to the permitting strategy in offshore wind developments.

  • Management and oversight of the preparation of materials and assessments required to support permit applications, including impact assessment.

  • Management of multiple contractors in support of the work.

  • Task owner of assessments, surveys and internal and expert support functions as appropriate.

  • Stakeholder engagement and management of external and internal stakeholders and regulatory agencies.

  • Internal project management in terms of risk, budget and schedule associated with the work.

  • Input to the wider Equinor project development & consenting strategy, including spatial planning for future renewables developments.

  • Representing Equinor / project(s) in industry fora.

  • Providing support and specialist competence to other projects in the Equinor renewables portfolio, including business development activities.

  • Active member of relevant Equinor networks.

  • Experience of offshore wind development, permitting and impact assessment.

  • Experience with German specific regulatory and consenting requirement for major offshore infrastructure projects.

  • Management of offshore surveys and contractors for assessments for site development activities.

  • Alternative experience of field development / environmental affairs or assessments, permitting of other major infrastructure projects.

  • Experience in external stakeholder engagement.

  • Experience in project management, including managing complex schedules and deliverables.

  • Experience of representing projects and companies in industry fora.

  • Fluency in written and spoken German and English.

  • Educated to Degree or master’s level in a relevant discipline.
