Leonardo DRS, Inc. Human Resources Coordinator in Halifax, Nova Scotia

Reporting directly to the Manager, Human Resources, the Human Resources Coordinator is responsible for supporting the human resources operational activities including those related to administration, recruitment, onboarding, employee relations, performance, training, and offboarding. This opportunity is for a six (6) month contract.

As a Human Resources Coordinator, your main responsibilities will include (but are not limited to):

  • Provide general administrative support to the Manager and Human Resources Generalist.

  • Respond to internal and external human resources related enquiries or route within the Human Resources team accordingly.

  • Assist with the pre-employment process, including routing personnel requisitions for approval, posting job opportunities, coordinating interviews, and assisting with the preparation of employment offers.

  • Coordinate the new hire onboarding process by conducting new employee orientation sessions and entering new hire information into the various human resources tools.

  • Administer employee health and wellness plans, including enrollments, changes and terminations ensuring accurate record-keeping and engagement with Payroll and insurance providers.

  • Process employment related paperwork and ensuring updates are made in the human resources systems with a high level of accuracy liaising with relevant stakeholders as required.

  • Coordinate and process employee recognition programs.

  • Maintain content on the Human Resources intranet page.

  • Maintain the electronic personnel records including closing of files and archiving as per guidelines.

  • Assist in special projects as requested.

What you require to be successful in the role:

  • Possession of a Diploma or Degree in Business Administration, Human Resources or related field from a recognized post-secondary institution or equivalent years of experience.

  • Minimum of two (2) years of administrative experience in a human resources environment.

  • Knowledge of human resources processes and best practices.

  • Excellent administrative and records management skills, with a high level of attention to detail and accuracy.

  • Proficiency with computers and the use of various software programs including Microsoft Office Suite, ADP, and SuccessFactors.

  • Ability to deal with confidential information and sensitive situations with tact and diplomacy.

  • Strong organizational, time management, interpersonal, communication, problem solving and analytical skills.
