Amazon Network Drivers Student, AWS Elastic Network Adapter Drivers team, ENA in Haifa, Israel

Description

AWS Utility Computing (UC) provides product innovations — from foundational services such as Amazon’s Simple Storage Service (S3) and Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud (EC2), to consistently released new product innovations that continue to set AWS’s services and features apart in the industry. As a member of the UC organization, you’ll support the development and management of Compute, Database, Storage, Internet of Things (Iot), Platform, and Productivity Apps services in AWS. Within AWS UC, Amazon Dedicated Cloud (ADC) roles engage with AWS customers who require specialized security solutions for their cloud services.

ENA drivers are available for all supported operating systems (e.g. Linux, Windows, DPDK, FreeBSD, MacOS, …) and run on the host virtual machine. The Linux, DPDK, and FreeBSD ENA drivers are open-source and available in the official Amazon drivers github and corresponding operating systems’ repositories. The ENA drivers are responsible to manage the interface between the Nitro controller and the virtual instance, manage resources and configurations, and implement various networking enhanced features.

Key job responsibilities

As a student in the ENA Drivers team, you will participate in the development of kernel-space and user-space network drivers running on the customer’s virtual machines. You will continuously evolve technically, learn and utilize new technologies and software engineering methodologies, gain knowledge and proficiency in networking and embedded concepts, contribute and help maintaining the high quality of the teams’ deliverables.

About the team

Thanks to our teams’ breadth of professional engineers, we have been able to improve AWS cloud networking infrastructure, with products such as Elastic Network Adapter (ENA), Elastic Fabric Adapter (EFA), and Scalable Reliable Datagram (SRD). Our products are at the heart of the cloud, playing a key role, and used by millions and millions of customers!

Basic Qualifications

  • B.Sc. student of Computer Science / Computer Engineering / SW Engineering / Electrical Engineering with at least 3 semesters left before graduation

  • Available to work 2-3 days weekly in the Haifa office

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in C

  • Understanding of networking protocols

  • Team player, excellent at multitasking and self-learning
