In this role, you will have the opportunity to research, design, validate, and implement engine and powertrain systems in heavy-duty, off-highway equipment. You will work with multiple teams and vendors to ensure proper application of engines, engine cooling, exhaust, power take-off, vibration isolation, and driveline components. You will have the opportunity to develop skills and knowledge in design, analysis, standards development, and project management.
YOUR IMPACT
You will elicit from vendors, select, and design components for function, cost, reliability, and manufacturability
You will possess a working knowledge of internal combustion engine theory (compression ignition, spark ignition) and the function of exhaust aftertreatment components
You will apply various regulations and standards for compliance
You will be responsible to use good design and manufacturing methods to produce efficient designs
You will use Creo modeling software in the design process for the communication of component requirements and assembly
You will interact, as necessary, with various people such as external suppliers and engineering teams and disciplines within the organization
You will be responsible to create and communicate test requirements, analyze test data and author test reports
You will possess strong documentation and organization skills to ensure completion of engineering and vendor requirements
You will utilize various tools such as engine diagnostic tools, Vector Canalyzer, Ncode Glyphworks, and Somat Infield for design verification and troubleshooting
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or similar associated discipline
3+ years of applicable industry engineering experience
STANDOUT QUALIFICATIONS
Previous design experience in internal combustion engines or engine systems
Experience in vibration analysis and vibration isolation design
Willingness to learn and desire to share knowledge and experiences related to the job function
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
