In this role, you will have the opportunity to research, design, validate, and implement engine and powertrain systems in heavy-duty, off-highway equipment. You will work with multiple teams and vendors to ensure proper application of engines, engine cooling, exhaust, power take-off, vibration isolation, and driveline components. You will have the opportunity to develop skills and knowledge in design, analysis, standards development, and project management.

YOUR IMPACT

• You will elicit from vendors, select, and design components for function, cost, reliability, and manufacturability

• You will possess a working knowledge of internal combustion engine theory (compression ignition, spark ignition) and the function of exhaust aftertreatment components

• You will apply various regulations and standards for compliance

• You will be responsible to use good design and manufacturing methods to produce efficient designs

• You will use Creo modeling software in the design process for the communication of component requirements and assembly

• You will interact, as necessary, with various people such as external suppliers and engineering teams and disciplines within the organization

• You will be responsible to create and communicate test requirements, analyze test data and author test reports

• You will possess strong documentation and organization skills to ensure completion of engineering and vendor requirements

• You will utilize various tools such as engine diagnostic tools, Vector Canalyzer, Ncode Glyphworks, and Somat Infield for design verification and troubleshooting

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or similar associated discipline

• 3+ years of applicable industry engineering experience

STANDOUT QUALIFICATIONS

• Previous design experience in internal combustion engines or engine systems

• Experience in vibration analysis and vibration isolation design

• Willingness to learn and desire to share knowledge and experiences related to the job function

• Strong verbal and written communication skills

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
