Sierra Nevada Company, LLC Aircraft Maintenance Manager I in Hagerstown, Maryland

Are you looking for a managerial opportunity in aviation regulations and aircraft maintenance where you can support and protect heroes? Join our team! As an Aircraft Maintenance Manager I, you will be responsible for planning and scheduling all aircraft repair and maintenance activities and ensuring those activities are performed safely, on-time, and within budget. You'll ensure all foreign object inspections and activities are completed, ensure projects are properly staffed with qualified employees and establish work standards, hours of work and appropriate shifts to be worked to accomplish work on smaller, less complex programs. You'll also review maintenance delays and system problems in order to suggest improvements to maintenance processes and procedures. You will have overall responsibility for the airworthiness of the fleet and will ensure safe and adequate maintenance is performed at all times.

The Mission Solutions and Technologies (MST) business area provides affordable, turn-key command/control, communications, integrated ISR, force protection and security solutions worldwide. The MST team has a long legacy of supporting the Department of Defense, Department of Homeland Security, commercial and international customers with years of experience in platform operations, engineering and full lifecycle management across domains – air, land, sea, space and cyber.

Responsibilities:

  • Maintenance Oversight: Supervise and manage all maintenance activities ensuring compliance with FAA regulations, Repair Station and OEM guidelines, DCMA and company policies.

  • Team Leadership: Lead, mentor, and develop a team of A&P technicians, fostering a culture of safety, efficiency, and continuous improvement.

  • Scheduling and Coordination: Plan and coordinate maintenance schedules to minimize aircraft downtime and ensure flight readiness.

  • Quality Assurance: Implement and oversee quality control procedures to ensure all maintenance work meets the highest standards of safety and reliability.

  • Resource Management: Manage resources, including tools, equipment, and spare parts inventory, to ensure availability and proper utilization.

  • Documentation and Record-Keeping: Ensure accurate and timely maintenance records, logs, and reports are maintained in compliance with regulatory and company requirements.

  • Safety Management: Promote and enforce a rigorous safety management system, conducting regular safety audits and risk assessments.

  • Liaison and Communication: Act as the primary point of contact between the maintenance team, flight operations, and other stakeholders, ensuring clear communication and efficient problem resolution.

  • Training and Development: Oversee training programs to ensure technicians are up to date with the latest maintenance practices, regulatory changes, and specific platform maintenance and operational requirements.

Qualifications You Must Have:

  • B.A. (or equivalent degree) - a higher level degree may substitute for relevant experience

  • Relevant experience may be considered as an equivalent to the educational requirement.

  • Typically, 6+ years of progressive aviation experience maintenance management, preferably with turbine corporate aircraft. E.g.; Bombardier, Gulfstream, etc. which includes 0-2+ years of management experience.

  • Experience with aviation safety standards and safe operating practices

  • General knowledge and understanding of FAA regulations, policies, and procedures

  • Strong communication skills both written and verbal

  • Basic Microsoft Office Suite skills (Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel)

  • Experience with Aircraft Maintenance and Inspection processes and procedures and/or returning planes to service

  • A&P Certification: Must hold a valid Airframe and Powerplant (A&P) certification from the FAA.

  • Proven experience in leading and managing teams, with strong mentoring and coaching abilities.

  • In-depth knowledge of FAA regulations, OEM guidelines, DCMA, and industry best practices.

  • Strong technical expertise in aircraft systems, maintenance procedures, and troubleshooting.

  • Must acquire authority under the Repair Station to sign off on maintenance performed and return aircraft to service.

  • Exceptional organizational and planning skills to effectively manage maintenance schedules and resources.

  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, to liaise with various stakeholders and ensure clear, effective information flow.

  • Strong commitment to safety and quality assurance, with experience in implementing and maintaining safety management systems.

  • Ability to quickly and effectively address and resolve maintenance issues and operational challenges.

  • Proficiency with maintenance management software and other relevant computer applications.

  • The ability to obtain and maintain a Secret Security Clearance is required

Qualifications We Prefer:

  • Inspection Authorization (IA)

  • Experience with Military Aircraft Modifications: Familiarity with the unique requirements and maintenance needs of aircraft used in military surveillance roles.

  • Previous DCMA Interaction: Experience working directly with DCMA representatives and understanding specific oversight protocols.

  • Avionics Expertise: Knowledge of avionics systems to complement mechanical maintenance skills.

  • Engine ground run and aircraft taxi certification

Estimated Starting Salary Range: $85,768.30 - $117,931.40. Compensation varies depending on a wide array of factors, such as candidates' key skills, relevant work experience, and education/training/certifications. The disclosed range estimate may be adjusted for any applicable geographic differential associated with the location at which the position may be filled.

SNC offers annual incentive pay based upon performance that is commensurate with the level of the position.
