The Role: Software Engineer – DevOps Tooling

The Team: The OSTTRA Technology team is composed of Capital Markets Technology professionals, who build, support, and protect the applications that operate our network. The technology landscape includes high-performance, high-volume applications as well as compute intensive applications, leveraging contemporary microservices, cloud-based architectures.

Responsibilities:

  • Develops and maintains mission-critical financial services systems.

  • Provides direct and responsive support for urgent incidents.

  • Translates loosely defined requirements into solutions.

  • Cloud Migration and Integration: Collaborate with cross-functional teams to plan and execute cloud migration strategies, integrating on-premises systems and applications.

  • Security and Compliance: Implement robust security measures and best practices, ensuring adherence to industry standards and regulatory requirements.

  • Perform security assessments and audits to identify potential vulnerabilities and recommend remediation actions.

  • Infrastructure Automation: Drive the automation of infrastructure provisioning, deployment, and management using Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC).

  • Cost Optimization: Monitor and optimize cloud resources to maximize cost efficiency while maintaining performance and reliability.

  • Performance and Monitoring: Set up performance monitoring and alerting mechanisms to proactively identify and resolve issues, ensuring optimal system performance and availability.

  • Uses open-source technologies and tools to accomplish specific use cases encountered within the project.

  • Uses coding languages or scripting methodologies to solve a problem with a custom workflow.

  • Collaborates with others on the project to brainstorm about the best way to tackle a complex technological infrastructure, security, or development problem.

  • Performs incremental testing actions on code, processes, and deployments to identify ways to streamline execution and minimize errors encountered.

  • Builds supports and manages the inhouse tooling and configuration solutions for CI/CD.

What We’re Looking For:

  • BS in Computer Science, IT, or equivalent area of technical study.

  • Minimum 5 years of Industry experience with DevOps or similar role.

  • Experience administering and deploying development CI/CD tools such as Git, GitLab, or Jenkins.

  • Experience working on cloud providers AWS/GCP and managing Infrastructure as code on them preferably using Terraform.

  • Experience with deploying and administering Kubernetes/OpenShift/AWS EKS/ GCP GKE clusters.

  • Familiarity with Elastic Search and managing Relational Databases on Cloud.

  • Familiarity around monitoring tools like new-relic or other open-source alternatives.

  • Familiarity with agile software development in Go/Python, C/C++, Java, JavaScript.

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills with a keen sense of customer service.

  • Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.

  • Process-oriented with great documentation skills.

  • Knowledge of best practices and IT operations in an always-up, always-available service.
