Cargill Metals works with customers in the global trading, distributing and processing of raw materials and steel products; which includes iron ore, billets, hot rolled, cold rolled, wire-rods, and rebar. Cargill Metals’ global presence enables it to serve miners, mills, processors and end users.

Over the last few years, India became strategic for Cargill Metals from both a ferrous industry insight point of view as well as import-export hub for both steel and iron ore. For iron ore in particular, Cargill Metals now represents approximately 20% of the export market whilst being an importer of some specific iron ore grades required by the Indian steel mills. As part of the commercial organization, the Senior Merchant – Iron Ore will be responsible to further develop the Indian iron ore portfolio and unique market insights. For this, he/she will have to be deeply embedded in the India ferrous system, develop the right commercial strategy and smoothly manage the execution risks. A close collaboration with the other hubs in Singapore and Shanghai and the physical lead will be required. With the expected growth in Indian steel production and the challenges linked to decarbonization, the role has a clear growth trajectory in terms of scale and complexity of the portfolio which in turns provides a unique career opportunity and exposure to senior management.
