About this role

Aladdin Data is responsible for enterprise data and analytics for BlackRock and its Aladdin clients. We also develop and operate the platforms that produce, distribute, and govern enterprise data and analytics. Our goal is a largely automated, cloud-native platform that radically transforms our data and analytics supply chain, making it faster, easier, and cheaper to discover, access, and leverage data and analytics for asset management.

As a Technical Associate on the BlackRock Aladdin Data Governance Team, you will be responsible for supporting the development and implementation of data governance tools, metrics and processes that support the strategic data governance goals in the Risk Analytics data domain, as well as other critical data across BlackRock. You will be part of our data governance and modernization activities - helping to build a robust, transparent and effective enterprise-wide monitoring platform to ensure standards and controls are being followed.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the development and implementation of a Data Governance Dataset Certification process using Python & Snowflake.

  • Collaborate with senior leadership, data stewardship and other stakeholders to gather, implement, and test requirements.

  • Develop and maintain a suite of dashboards and visualizations in Tableau to support this Certification process and other data governance activities.

  • Interact with the Enterprise Data Catalog and other data sources to integrate and consolidate data.

  • Document process, procedures and user guides for the Certification process.

Experience:

  • 5+ years of experience in financial technology industry, or data management, data modeling, application development roles.

  • Track record of bringing together varied datasets from multiple sources into actionable metrics & analytics.

  • Experience in creating metrics, KPIs and dashboards that are clear, consistent and precise.

  • Experience / exposure working with financial markets data, investment and risk analytics and data management functions.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology or related fields.

  • Proficiency in Python for data manipulation, automation and tool development

  • Experience with Tableau for designing and implementing dashboards and visualizations.

  • Understanding of financial datasets, securities and risk analytics.

  • Comfort with other technical tools such as SQL, Jupyter Notebook, Unix commands, Hadoop, Spark SQL, Power BI, etc.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills

  • Enthusiasm for, and comfort with driving work independently in a fast paced, dynamic environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Understanding of basic data governance concepts (metadata registration, data quality, entitlements)

  • Familiarity with AI tools including LLMs and implementing process automation using AI

  • Strong Project Management skills and ability to organize and effectively communicate status
