Summary of position:

Engineering Manager will be part of the Enterprise Data Management organization within American Express Global Business Travel (GBT)’s Technology function. It is an important role that would own and manage a team of engineers for enterprise BI Platform and Analytics,

What You’ll Do on a Typical Day :

• Manage and lead the BI Engineering team and work closely to create technical solutions and provide direction.

• Create a product vision and strategy, as well as a long-term and quarterly roadmap, to achieve the product vision and make an impact by improving efficiency.

• Effectively support multi-work stream engagements, prioritize client requests, and work objectives leveraging appropriate project management methodologies and tools such as project plans and issue logs.

• Manage a geographically diverse team of resources across USA, Canada, UK, and India

• Act as an escalation point and lead in removing impediments to achieving goals and objectives.

• Drive innovation and manage teams within a fast paced, agile environment.

• Effectively manage issues and risks that arise during the lifecycle of the project/engagement.

• Coach, guide, and promote the creation of high-quality, clearly documented, and compliant deliverables across teams.

• Enable integrated teams to deliver technology-driven analytics solutions in support of key initiatives by working closely with product & project managers and developers.

• Collaborate within and across business units to prioritize, plan, and execute strategic goals.

What We’re Looking For :

• Minimum 10 years of total experience with a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in analytical end-to-end solutions.

• Experience building and managing complex, large-scale enterprise function(s) with resilience.

• Good understanding of BI and Data Processing technologies like Tableau, Alteryx, Python, Redshift/Snowflake.

• Excellent communication and problem-solving skills

• Bachelor’s degree where course work could include (either): Statistics, Computer Science, or Information Technology. Candidates with master’s preferred

• Experience in designing, developing, and maintaining applications.

• Experience in writing requirements specifications and collaborating with engineers and designers to produce a high-quality product.

• Experience designing multi-tier web application architecture.

• Knowledge of Project Management Tools like Azure DevOps/Jira

• Strong understanding of development using HTML5, CSS/SASS/SCSS and JAVASCRIPT, Django & Rest Framework.

• Good knowledge of Python, SQL, and Tableau

• Travel domain knowledge is a plus.

• Ability to deal with ambiguity and present/discuss work results in a compelling manner.

• Team player, Flexibility/ability to adapt in a dynamic environment.
