POSITION:

Western Colorado University invites applications for a tenure-track full time faculty position (Assistant or Associate Professor level) in the Behavioral and Social Sciences department. We seek someone with experience in community behavioral health and who has experience, or shows promise, as an effective college instructor. The Behavioral and Social Sciences department provides a supportive, compassionate, and multi-disciplinary environment for dedicated professionals who are committed to living in the rural Rocky Mountains. Teaching responsibilities will be mainly in Psychology (courses may include Psychopathology, Death & Dying, Psychological Testing, Clinical Psychology, Social Work, Capstone) and secondarily in Sociology (occasional courses may include Self & Society and Drugs & Society). Other courses could be included in the teaching load based on need and qualifications. In addition to undergraduate instruction and university service, the ideal applicant also will be capable of conducting clinical supervision of LPC and/or LCSW interns and current practicing LPCs/LCSWs as needed. (Such candidates must be qualified to conduct clinical supervision of master's-level LCSW and/or LPC licensure candidates.) This community involvement will occur at various venues in the Gunnison valley (e.g., Gunnison Valley Health, Axis Health, and CB State of Mind) and it represents an exciting opportunity for serving regional needs and improving the community behavioral health workforce. QUALIFICATIONS:

A terminal degree (Ph.D., D.S.W., Psy.D.) is required, and applicants must provide evidence of their commitment to undergraduate education and willingness to be sensitive to the educational needs of a diverse student population. SALARY/BENEFITS:

$60,000-$63,000 base salary for Assistant Professor and $65,000-$68,000 for Associate Professor, commensurate with qualifications and experience. This position may be additionally supported by an annually renewable grant-funded stipend of $16,700 for the clinical supervision duties (which equals to $76,700-$79,700 total for Assistant Professor, and $81,700-$84,700 for Associate Professor, respectively). Western offers an excellent benefits package including shared premiums for a comprehensive health insurance plan, dental insurance, retirement plan, life insurance, and other insurance options. After one year of employment, Western provides free tuition for dependents enrolled full time in u dergraduate programs for up to four years. Western has acquired local rental agreements for newly hired employees moving to the Gunnison Valley. We expect several new units to be available, on a first come first served basis, with subsidized leases as "bridge" housing for up to one year, while new employees locate long term accommodations in the area.
