Summary The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) has an immediate need to employ temporary local hires to assist with disaster response and recovery efforts in Guaynabo, Puerto Rico. Local Hire appointments may be extended, in 120-day increments, based on the needs of the disaster. Responsibilities What will I do in this position if hired? In this position as Local Hire (Civil Engineer), you will work to assist local communities in recovery efforts. Typical assignments include: Provides expert technical assistance on engineering related policies, principles, and procedures; Serves as program expert in the engineering and eligibility criteria for providing assistance to State and local governments and private non-profit organizations; Prepares technical recommendations for PA leadership regarding Recovery programs. Provides technical guidance and oversight to those supporting public assistance engineer applications for preparation and development of project worksheets, site visits, appeals, and congressional inquiries.
