Merrick & Company Mechanical Engineer - Energy Modeler in Greenwood Village, Colorado

OVERVIEW

Merrick is currently seeking an experienced Energy Modeler to provide energy modeling for Federal, LEED, and other sustainable standards. The position will also assist in HVAC design as needed. WHAT YOU'LL DO

Develops ASHRAE approved computer-based energy models to analyze the cost, performance, and environmental impacts of building energy systems. Be intimately familiar with energy codes, such as ASHRAE 90.1 and the IECC. Work closely with architects, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and civil engineers to full understand the building and system construction, overall energy savings goals, and challenges associated with the project. Perform energy conservation calculations in comparison to minimum code required measures. Perform Life Cycle Cost Analysis studies to determine lowest service life cost and payback periods. Suggest and evaluate system alternatives based on cost and performance. Participate in Value Engineering studies. Complete sustainability checklists, such as associated with USGBC LEED, Guiding Principles, and Green Globes, as well as others. Interface with clients during Design Charrettes and design reviews. REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum four (4) years of experience in mechanical building systems design and energy modeling Bachelor's degree in Architecture, Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, or Building Science and Energy Management from an A.B.E.T. Accredited Program Client projects for this position require U.S. Citizenship Knowledge of HVAC and plumbing engineering principles and practices Familiarity with Building Codes and Unified Facility Design Criteria Detailed knowledge of ASHRAE 90.1 is required. Knowledge of Trace 700, EnergyPlus or other ASHRAE approved hourly calculation software experience is required. Demonstrated commercial building energy modeling reports for Federal, LEED, Green Globes or other sustainable standards Experience in performing Life Cycle Cost Analyses Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Outlook, Word and Excel Travel to various locations for site visits, Energy Audits, meetings with clients and contractors may be required. DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Knowledge of Revit and AutoCAD US Passport LEED AP BD+C accreditation PERKS
