Job Description

The Purchasing Specialist will oversee purchasing efforts with a focus on forecasting to maintain appropriate commodity pricing within industry standards. The role requires market knowledge to capitalize on trends in raw material costs and macro trends in the supplier and contract base. Responsibilities include implementing proactive plans to engage suppliers, vendor management, price negotiation, identification and source selection, as well as contract review. The specialist will develop and implement sourcing and negotiation strategies for key spend areas to achieve short- and long-term savings targets. Building and developing relationships with key suppliers and customers, managing vendor relationships, and assisting in building effective partnerships are also crucial aspects of this role. Additional duties include reviewing quotations, ordering materials and services, tracking purchasing activity and measurements, and maintaining organized purchasing records. The specialist will assist the department in developing and implementing purchasing strategies for products, and communicate timely updates on rapid fluctuations in material prices and other concerns impacting the shop, field, engineering orders, or supplies.

Skills and Qualifications Required

• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, related field or equivalent work experience

• Minimum of 2 years purchasing experience in a construction environment

• Experience in procurement of steel and fabrication type products

Work Site

This is a fully on-site position in Greenville, Wisconsin.
