This controls engineering position in the Aero Controls Systems Technology organization is responsible for strong technical leadership to create and adapt transient models to support integration with Aero Package Software for existing and new functionalities.
Selected candidate will drive customer fulfillment excellence and lead technical complex design, working across a global technology team focused on package & Core controls development.
The selected individual shall be involved in long-term planning & development of Aero engineering process, performance, validation, and commissioning Package and Core control systems for Aero and NPI Technology development.
This role, in addition to closely collaborating with our internal & external customers, is critical in driving a team culture of technical system & domain depth, contemporary leadership, on time quality execution and strong customer-focused mindset.
Job Description
Essential Functions:
In this role, the individual shall contribute to the Vernova Aero Gas Power business priorities while guiding the execution of complex projects across the global engineering teams and responsible for strategy, portfolio planning, requirements management, design, and implementation into production of GT & Core controls projects, covering the full Aero GT and Core development strategy.
The Principal Aero Controls Modeling Engineer will be responsible to develop high fidelity models for bleed and variable geometry actuation, fuel system actuation and gas volume dynamics.
Modeling duties includes:
Implement a genetic optimization algorithm to characterize high fidelity models to a specific engine
Review, analyze and test field data
Adapt NPSS steady state performance models, to provide them transient capabilities
Develop a Simulink-NPSS simulation environment for Aero Engines
Adapt existing Fortran based model into a Simulink based model with capabilities to be deployed on a MarkVIe.
Addition to Modeling, Principal Aero Controls Modeling Engineer will participate on the development software configuration for testing support and data acquisition creating tools for this purpose, provide assistance on the Performance match on models vs data field, etc..
When assigned to a project/ program, the selected candidate will be responsible for Technical & Schedule Risk Identification and Mitigation across complete Controls Scope in close collaboration with Controls & Systems CTH.
The selected candidate may be responsible for one or more projects/ programs. The overall goal of the role is the ‘make the project successful’.
In addition, the selected candidate is expected to:
Empowered project level decision maker
Project ownership from ITO-COD for high-risk complex projects as defined by internal risk review
Support ITO/ Proposal efforts
Work and Lead in an Agile software methodology
Support and influence product requirements definition
Lead globally and be accountable for overall Control System Requirements definition and management.
Drive overall Architecture, top level design, verification, validation, and commissioning requirements Ensure adequate system function, performance, interface, reliability, maintainability and safety requirements, goals and margins are defined and managed.
Support & influence comprehensive test plans for system verification and validation, new article, and customer system Software Acceptance Tests (SwATs), site pre-operation, startup, and commissioning.
Coordinate flow down of internal and external customer requirements/ tasks Lead and promote customer discussions/reviews for an improved controls solution and customer experience and expectations.
Demonstrate System Level thinking Lead fulfillment teams with an inclusive adaptable style – able to quickly learn diverse and varying organizational interfaces with professional astuteness and agility
Collaborate with and maintain close, responsive, and productive working relationships with internal GE groups as well as with external customers. Responsible for establishing Controls credibility and brand.
Be accountable for Controls cost and schedule targets working with functional managers.
Provide clear communication to the team and the business leaders.
Basic QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor’s degree in Control, electrical, Mechatronics or related Engineering
Design experience in Core & GT Operability with a minimum of 10-12 years of Experience on MarkVIe, Simulink and other Control platforms inclusive of software tools development Matlab, Fortran, C++ expertise.
DESIRED EXPERIENCES:
Experience in design & application of power generation controls, electrical, or accessory systems.
Knowledge on Aerospace Core software design practices and Technical writing expertise.
10+ years of Controls system integration experience
Aero Gas Turbine, Steam Turbine and/or Plant controls knowledge/Simulink experienced
For U.S. based candidates only, for purposes of complying with U.S. pay transparency requirements, the base pay range for this position is $127,900.00 - 213,100.00 USD Annual.
The specific pay offered may be influenced by a variety of factors, including the candidate’s experience, education, and skill set. This Senior Professional Band position is also eligible for a 15% performance bonus .
The Company pays a geographic differential of 110%, 120% or 130% of salary in certain areas. This position will stay open on the career website until at least November 6th. 2024
