The Senior Manager, Practical Process Improvement (PPI) will drive Practical Process Improvement (PPI) Business System for our Patient and Advisory Services Division within PPD. You will be responsible for the strategy, coaching, management, development and implementation of PPI, inclusive of a) strategy development and deployment b) capture of program benefits c) culture change leader d) network roll-out within division e) analyze and develop roadmaps through diagnostics, VSM and/or Kaizen f) execute and implement the roadmap g) drive transformational PPI through digitization / Pharma 4.0.

This role will report to the PPI Director for Patient and Advisory Services Division within PPD. We are offering a hybrid work schedule for candidates located near our offices in North Carolina (Raleigh/Wilmington), Massachusetts (Waltham) or Maryland (Bethesda). This position will require region and global travel, up to 30% on an annual basis.

How will you make an impact?

Program Development – Support development of the overall strategy and execution plan for PPI for your Division, including multi– year transformational roadmaps.

Program Management – Actively support and lead the PPI Business System and elements, driving committed results and develop needed tools/methods needed for future versions.

Strategy Implementation – Supporting role in strategy deployment, both globally and at division level.

Talent Management – Continuously support the development of Division's talent on PPI Business System.

Divisional Synergies – Identify and capitalize on savings opportunities within Division, ensuring cross-functional knowledge sharing.

Roadmap Execution – Support coordination of development of Transformation Implementation Plans from a network level for Division.

Development and Execution - Design, implement and deliver network wide initiatives in support of PPI

Coach and Partner - Become the trusted partner of the Division leadership teams, mentor and develop their competencies to drive mindsets and behaviors from the leadership down into the organization.

Coordination and Collaboration - Work closely with the Global PPI teams to coordinate implementation of PPI within the Division.

Digitization – Leverage technology to drive PPI processes to generate further capacity within current footprint and systems / processes.

What will you do?

Lead and educate cross-functional teams to streamline processes to improve the service experience, become more efficient, and ensure sustainable processes and controls are in place. Includes:

  • Conducting Gemba Walks to identify process improvement opportunities.

  • Lead and facilitate Kaizens and Projects.

  • Coach the teams in Daily Tiered Management.

  • Train associates in PPI tools and concepts

  • Cultivate an action-biased culture of continuous improvement to improve Quality, Productivity and Customer Allegiance.

  • Provide support to develop lean expertise and capability at all levels.

  • Improve decision-making models and problem-solving capabilities within the teams to increase autonomy and the pace of change.

  • Identify and implement new tools to improve efficiency and throughput

  • Identify and quantify financial opportunities for improvement and add them to the project hopper / tracker.

  • Regularly seek feedback from Division leadership to directly meet and understand their needs.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent and relevant formal academic / vocational qualification

  • Previous process improvement methodology experience that provides the knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the job (comparable to 8+ years’ experience)

  • Strong financial and business sense

  • In some cases an equivalency, consisting of appropriate education, training, and/or directly related experience will be considered sufficient for an individual to meet the requirements of the role.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Experience identifying, communicating and reporting on the value stream, metrics and tier boards process.

  • Understanding and experience with process mapping, communicating, instructing, and facilitating.

  • Proven track record leading programs to a successful conclusion through solid presentation and guiding skills.

  • Experience reporting and speaking publicly with a metrics-based approach.

  • Experience driving performance and results with functional teams using a continuous improvement methodology such as PPI, 6 Sigma, Lean, OEE, and/or others.

  • Ability to communicate PPI visions to the organization to create excitement and activate transformational change.

  • Demonstrated track record of Operational Transformation and Process Improvement

  • Demonstrated project management experience in a fast-paced environment

  • Strong analytical skills, attention to detail and ability to multi-task

  • Ability to interface and effectively influence all levels of the organization.

  • Shown Leadership skills in a matrix environment

  • Strong interpersonal and presentation skills with a focus on coaching and influencing others.

  • Superior communication skills, verbal and written; proficiency with English language

  • Working knowledge of MS Office Applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, and SharePoint).

The salary range estimated for this position is $100,000 - $175,000 USD. This position will also be eligible to receive a variable annual bonus based on company, team, and/or individual performance results in accordance with company policy. Actual compensation will be confirmed in writing at the time of offer.
