Education & Experience Requirements:
Education:
2-year technical degree in a Maintenance-related field and successful completion of the Vari-Skills program
Equivalency:
High school diploma/GED with 3+ years experience in a technical discipline and a proven track record of increasing responsibility in one or more positions that involves supervision and department management, independent thinking and analytical analysis, decision making, effective communication, conflict resolution, etc. Successful completion of the Vari-Skills program.
Experience:
Five or more years at a manufacturing facility working in a Maintenance Supervisory role having full responsibility & accountability for the department in a three-shift operation. Ability to function in a team environment, work well with others, and handle multiple priorities and projects are necessary.
Equivalency:
Ten or more years working in a supervisory role within a Maintenance Department in an Industrial manufacturing facility.
Work Environment/Time Worked:
Work Environment:
Activities occur both inside and outside manufacturing facilities, distribution warehouse and grounds. This individual could be exposed to 110+ degree weather in the summertime when working on the roof
and sub-zero temperatures in the winter. There is also airborne mica dust, which can create an uncomfortable environment at times. Being a mechanic, the job conditions change on an hourly basis and adjustments must be made accordingly.
Time Worked:
Hours Worked - Typically 40 hours/week, with overtime required as plant needs dictate.
Days of Week Worked - Generally Monday through Friday although weekends may be required to support production or for major equipment breakdowns.
Shifts Worked - typically a 3-shift rotation is required (11 pm - 7 am, 7 am - 3 pm, 3 pm - 11 pm), with possible adjustments as plant needs dictate
Physical Requirements:
* Physical requirements include but are not limited to the following examples:
* Climbing to the top of the silo to make repairs to the slide gates or bucket elevator.
* Balance when working in live electrical cabinets using the one hand method.
* Stooping to work on transfer pumps for oil storage tanks
* Walking from the shop to all areas of the plant to work on all types of equipment.
* Lifting pumps and motors from the floor to the workbench not to exceed 70 lbs.
* Crawling under the calender spindles to service the hydraulic units.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
This position supervises the shift Maintenance Mechanics and Technicians (generally 7-8 per shift). Majority of the time for this position will be spent in a Supervisory role with CMMS, leadership, and safety.
Will be required to perform other duties as requested, directed, or assigned.
