Lake Erie College Of Osteopathic Medicine (LECOM) Admissions Representative in Greensburg, Pennsylvania

JOB SUMMARY: The Admissions Representative is responsible for advising prospective students for admission to LECOM at Seton Hill and for the collection / processing of all application documents and materials.  This person reports to the Director of Student Affairs at LECOM Erie and participates in central office processes for admissions and recruitment.  The individual also assists with LECOM special events (i.e., commencement, white coat ceremonies) and is cross-trained in responsibilities of the Financial Aid Counselor.

CHARACTERISTIC JOB TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Promotes and preserves the mission of LECOM;
  • Provides good customer service;
  • Learn about all programs and be able to answer student inquiries;
  • Responds to various communication inquiries regarding the admissions process;
  • Assists with processing all applications and matriculation fees;
  • Assist College of Medicine personnel with incoming class coordination and special events;
  • Update various applicant files and notify students of application status;
  • Assist with the planning and implementation of on-campus events related to admissions:  On-Campus Day, Open Houses,  Orientation, etc.;
  • Participate in other annual college events:  Commencement, White Coat Ceremony, and Hospital Day;
  • Invite candidates for on-campus interviews;
  • Schedule and conduct campus tours;
  • Participate in the Applicant Interview process, including greeting applicants, assisting with presentations, etc.;
  • Assist Admissions Committee on recording of decisions and informing applicants of post interview decisions;
  • Keep current accurate records of accepted applicants entering in new class, including all demographics;
  • Support Admissions Representatives in all Programs;
  • Assist incoming students with Matriculation Packet, and assure its completion;
  • Provides enrollment and admissions reports at the weekly Admissions Team meetings, serving as liaison with Erie Admissions staff;
  • Serve as liaison with Seton Hill University to coordinate contact with SHU applicants and students who indicate interest in LECOM;
  • Coordinate all aspects of interview dates, including scheduling of rooms and faculty/staff, ordering of food, coordination of student tour guides, management of files, and reporting of results of interviews to Admissions Committee;
  • Prepare and present virtual presentations to colleges and universities to exhibit LECOM programs;
  • Conduct presentation to applicants and guide interviewees to designated interview or demonstration site;
  • Keep Seton Hill University apprised of affiliate interviews and status;
  • Answer email or phone candidate questions about admission or this campus;
  • Answer inquiries through the Admissions email account;
  • Assist in processing all applications for the Institutional Programs;
  • Host high schools during on-campus events, including leading tours, giving presentations, and assisting in anatomy lab sessions, etc.;
  • Analyze data for all programs and create Excel graphs as requested;
  • Monitor the completion of admitted students' matriculation requirements;
  • Assist in processing various, AACOMAS application information, supplemental applications and supporting documentation;
  • Keep current and accurate records of accepted applicants entering in new class including all demographics;
  • Participate in off-campus recruitment as needed;
  • Serve as back up support to College Receptionist, on an as-needed basis;
  • Cross train in the responsibilities of the Financial Aid Coordinator in order to be able to assist in that area and/or fill in on an as needed basis;
  • Contribute directly to the Mission of LECOM embodying the essence of Osteopathic Principles and Practices by assisting with Institutional fundraising and participating in the LECOM Scholarship Auction;
  • Participate in scholarly activity so to enrich and broaden the student l arning experience;
  • Commit to being a representative of LECOM by being actively involved in the community, including, but not limited to, serving on Boards, participating in community fundraisers and overall outreach; and
  •  Other duties as required / needed to maintain an efficient and effective Department.

Job Requirements:

 KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND PERSONAL CHARACTERISTICS: Must possess required knowledge and be able to explain and demonstrate, with or without reasonable accommodations, that the essential functions of the job can be performed.

  • Strong computer literacy with MS Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel...etc.) and accurate data entry skills;

  • Experience in using various office equipment, i.e. copier, fax, scanner, etc.;
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment that requires multitasking, utilizing good time management;
  • Effectively using interpersonal and communications skills including tact and diplomacy;
  • Effectively using organizational and planning skills, including, but not limited to, attention to detail and follow-through;
  • Assessing and prioritizing multiple tasks, projects, and demands;
  • Maintaining confidentiality of work-related information and materials;

  • The ability to accept work requests from other managers and supervisors in a respectful and cooperative manner and to independently answer such requests;

*MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Education and experience equivalent to: *a high school diploma or GED equivalent is required.  An Associate or Bachelor's Degree with a minimum of one (1) year employment experience at a postsecondary educational institution preferred.

Successful candidate must possess efficient and effective verbal and written communication skills, multi-task and problem solve, prepare reports and be proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and other various internet resources to properly support and promote the mission of LECOM.
