North Carolina Agriculture & Technical State Unive Teaching Assistant Professor of Cybersecurity-Distance Learning in Greensboro, North Carolina

The 9-month – non-tenure track position will encompass responsibilities important to the total operation of the Department, including demonstration of excellence in teaching online advising and mentoring of students. The duties of the incumbent will include teaching a variety of undergraduate and graduate distance learning courses in Computer Science and expertise in AI and/or Cybersecurity. The Department of Computer Science currently offers many online courses to support the online master’s degree program in Computer Science and Cybersecurity.

The position will play a key role in the Extended Campus program online quality assurance processes. This non-tenure track assistant professor position will carry out discipline-related tasks as directed by the department and college. The role will contribute to the department citizenship and scholarly activity of the academic program, such as committee membership, leadership in inclusion, diversity, and equity endeavors, and leadership in promoting excellent teaching practices within the department. Additional duties include program evaluation, assessment reporting, and curriculum development.

The faculty member will teach approved curriculum in accordance with assigned schedule to ensure student satisfaction. Assists students in achieving completion of course objectives and student learning outcomes. Provides regular and timely feedback to students. – Participates in college retention initiatives by maintaining productive contact with students by getting in touch with and offering assistance to absent students. – Advises students in matters related to academics, attendance, and behaviors. Motivates students to actively participate in all aspects of the online educational process. Maintains and reports student grades and attendance in accordance with university policies.

The Computer Science (CS) Department at North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University ( NCAT ) has 15 full-time faculty members and offers BS, MS and PhD degrees. The department has a current enrollment of over 440 undergraduate students, 71 masters and 30 doctoral students. The faculty in the department conducts research in areas such as cybersecurity, cyber identity, computer vision, data science, big data, artificial intelligence and machine learning, cloud computing, software engineering, multi-agent and social computing. The department has attracted funding from the National Science Foundation, the Department of Defense, the Department of Energy, as well as various industries to support research and education. Requirements:

M.S. or Ph.D. in computer science, AI, cybersecurity or closely related field by date of appointment. The candidate must be able to be credentialed to teach undergraduate and/or graduate courses.

    This position may be eligible for a remote or hybrid work arrangement, consistent with university and state policies. N.C. A&T employees are generally required to reside in North Carolina, within a 2-hour commuting distance of their assigned duty station.
