The STEM Engagement Assistant in the College of Engineering ( COE ) serves as a key team member responsible for assisting the COE Director for Robotics Outreach ( DRO ) with implementation of STEM activities in direct support of Goal #1 (Transformative Engagement) of the University’s strategic plan. Through this role, the Assistant will assist the DRO by completing key administrative duties and activities geared towards the communication, coordination, and operation of STEM related programs both across the University campus and communities across the state of North Carolina.

This person is expected to contribute on a year-round basis, both directly and indirectly, to the expansion of STEM projects with emphasis in underserved communities. This Assistant will also provide limited assistance with completing administrative tasks for the Aggies for Engineering and Community Enrichment ( AECE ); a student-led organization focused on STEM engagement with the local communities.

North Carolina A&T State University is a public land grant university that enrolls nearly 13,900 students. The College of Engineering has EAC ABET accredited undergraduate programs in Architectural, Biological, Civil, Chemical, Computer, Electrical, Industrial & Systems, and Mechanical Engineering, as well as a CAC ABET -accredited Computer Science program. The College also has BS program in Bioengineering. The College has 11 Masters of Science Degree programs, and 5 Doctoral programs. In the state of North Carolina, North Carolina A&T State University (N.C. A&T) serves as the FIRST® Program Delivery Organization ( PDO ) responsible for managing the operational aspects of assigned FIRST® programs for the state. On a contractual basis, N.C. A&T manages the FIRST® LEGO® League Challenge ( FLL Challenge) & FIRST® Tech Challenge ( FTC ) STEM robotics programs from within the College of Engineering and is responsible for the Financial Management and Fundraising, Marketing and Branding, Program Management, and Volunteer Management.

Requirements:

High School Diploma or equivalency and one year of related office experience; or equivalent combination of training and experience.

Preferred:

• A desire for STEM education and community engagement.

• Experience with social media.

• Availability to attend some weekend (Saturday) STEM events.

• Access to transportation and a computer are required.

• Prior work experience associated with STEM is ideal but is not required.

• Comfortable working within a university environment.
