Services, Digital, and Investments (SD&I) Purchasing is a global organization within GTP representing a yearly purchased spend of 35 BSEK, responsible for Investments, IT, Professional Services & Travel, and Product & Operation Services. Revenue, Digital & IT includes operating fluids, chemicals, electricity, and utilities (gas, heating, water and industrial gas), electromobility industrialization, facilitating purchasing revenue creation, and using new business models in our work.
What You Will Be Doing
As the Manager of Services, Digital, & Investments Purchasing and Project Manager North America, you are responsible for the Mexico plant expansion project and operational activities within your area of scope and region, through:
Improving contribution to service growth and revenue creation
Strengthening focus on sustainability
Increasing digitalization and automation
Securing a resilient supply network
Leading purchasing activities and representing indirect purchasing in assigned product, services and industrial projects
Serving as a key player in the project teams, acting and delivering in a large network requesting strong cross-functional collaboration with stakeholders around the different business areas
You will lead a team of commodity buyers in your scope area, manage supplier relationships, collaborate cross-functionally, lead/contribute to supplier negotiations, as well as lead a dedicated project team in managing project timelines and contributing to global segment strategies. You will be based out of Greensboro, NC and report to the Head of Services, Digital, and Investments Purchasing North America.
Main areas of responsibility include:
Be a member of the GTP SD&I North America Leadership team, and actively contribute to the development of the department
Contribute on managing the overall supplier relationship by driving business reviews, securing cost targets and contracts, and acting as a key negotiation player in the escalation process
Secure needed communication and continuous improvements within your team, as well as cross-functional teams, stakeholders, and supply partners
Facilitate purchasing revenue creation by developing revenue streams from our supply network partners
Lead the development of your team of commodity buyers
Hold responsibility for budget and operating experiences within your department
Lead and manage project timelines, and serve as the voice of SD&I within the Project Management team
Inform the purchasing line organization about project demands, targets, time schedules, and other relevant project information
Prepare and present project statuses and management project reviews in purchasing reference groups and other forums
Ensure purchasing resources are secured for projects
Travel to Mexico as needed
Work in accordance with the Volvo processes, the Code of Conduct and the Volvo Values
Who We Are Looking For
5+ years of Project Management experience within the heavy trucking, automotive, construction equipment, aviation, or aerospace industries
People leadership experience, either as a direct manager or functional leader
Indirect purchasing experience within the area of building/construction
Developed leadership/coaching and teambuilding skills
Prior experience in building/fully outfitting a manufacturing plant is a plus
Experience working towards Mexico is a plus
Innovative mindset, team player, developed negotiator, agile, excellent communication skills
Able to execute in a global matrix organization
Knowledgeable in current and future business trends, technologies, and markets
Ability to analyze difficult situations and act quickly and directly
University degree in Supply Chain, Engineering, Business, or related discipline
Project Management Professional (PMP) certification is a plus
