The Department of Computer Science (CS) at North Carolina A&T State University invites applications for a non-tenure track teaching position of lecturer (requiring an MS) or teaching assistant professor (requiring a PhD) starting in Fall 2024. Primary responsibilities will include teaching core undergraduate CS courses and (for assistant professor only) core graduate CS courses, and there will also be opportunities to teach electives as well as to oversee teaching assistants and to mentor undergraduate and (for assistant professors only) graduate researchers.

A successful candidate will be encouraged to participate in research with a significant impact on CS pedagogy and may have the opportunity to create and offer advanced undergraduate tracks and concentrations. Teaching faculty are expected to contribute to the department’s efforts in scholarship and service and to help maintain the quality of learning outcomes by advancing the curriculum. They are expected to advise undergraduate and (assistant professors only) graduate students and to interact with the regional and national community. A successful candidate must be student-centered and be an enthusiastic and inspiring teacher.

Applicants for the teaching assistant professor position must have a PhD in CS. Applicants for the lecturer position must have at least an MS in Computer Science.

The College of Engineering, with 2,324 students, has EAC ABET -accredited undergraduate programs in Architectural, Bioengineering, Biological, Civil, Chemical, Computer, Electrical, Industrial, and Mechanical Engineering, as well as a CAC ABET -accredited program in Computer Science. The Computer Science Department at North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University has 15 full-time faculty members and offers BS, MS and PhD degrees. The department has a current enrollment of over 440 undergraduate students, 71 masters and 30 doctoral students. The faculty in the department conduct research in areas such as cybersecurity, cyber identity, computer vision, data science, big data, quantum computing, artificial intelligence and machine learning, cloud computing, software engineering, multi-agent and social computing. The department has attracted funding from the National Science Foundation, the Department of Defense, the Department of Energy, as well as various industries to support research and education. The department leads the University’s Center for Cyber Defense.
