What you will do

As a Software Test Engineer, you will develop software that enables our test automation. You will design, build and implement effective testing strategies to ensure that software functions work as intended.

Responsibilities:

  • Write embedded software in a variety of languages (e.g., C, C#, Python, etc.) 

  • Design and code application/libraries for test automation

  • Maintain existing codebases

  • Collaborate with SW developers and test engineers

  • Collaborate in cross-functional analytics community

  • You will work with agile processes and engineering standards to maintain efficient, well organized, reusable and reliable hardware and software to ensure the best possible performance, quality, and robustness of the products 

Your future team

We are Test Infrastructure and Automation team and at the heart of innovation at Vehicle Engineering in North America. We develop solutions to build and automate the verification of electronics hardware and software for Volvo Group products and services.

Test Infrastructure and Automation team focuses on:

  • Enabling shift-left development by building more realistic simulation environments

  • Enabling data-driven development by brining data and data analytics to engineers

  • Test automation to support CI/CD (Continuous Integration and Continuous Development) of electronic control unit software

Who are you?

We believe that, to be successful in the position, you are a curious and creative team player with a willingness to learn and take responsibility. You have strong technical background on SW development and understanding on CI/CD of electronic control unit software.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, Computer Science or similar

  • Experience in Software-in-the-loop (SIL) and Hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) methods to validate requirements.

Preferred:

  • Master’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, Computer Science or similar

  • 2+ years of experience in software development and testing

  • Experience in embedded software development

  • Experience in the automotive, transportation or a related industry.
